Apple HD movies on your MCE

**Update Update new version and link to download**

    Link to download here

Here is the new hd media downloader from apple trailers.

The old one was not as stable as this and also there are some new functions.

    New functions are:

    1. The downloader will now show the name and picture of the trailer it is downloading
    2. The downloader will skip files that are already downloaded. Meaning it will only download new trailers.
    3. The downloader also have settings for making it possible to run at certain time every day. You can choose what days of the week and the time it should run. You have to set the time under the menu settings -> schedule. When you hit the menu settings -> start schedule it will be minimized to the tray notification area and you can see a icon there that you can double click to get it maximized again. PS: remember it have to keep running to do the schedule downloads But it should not be a problem as it don't need much resources.
    4. Also now all you have to choose is the size of the trailers if you don't choose it will download the default that is 480.

PS: If you see the CPU load go way up then that is because your virus scanner will scan the files this program download. So it would be a good idea to turn of scanning the folder that you have your trailers saved to, in the virus program

For playback in wmp and mce install this.  http://www.softpointer.com/WMPTagSupport.htm

Hope the new feature is some that you will enjoy.

what is does it that it will download the new HD movie trailers from apple trailer site and store them on your hard drive.

format are 480 720 or 1080 But if you want smooth playback then go for 480 for the other you need a bad ass PC.

Wow, fantastic program! Not sure Apple will feel quite the same though.....

My question is this: Is this program scriptable in any way? I'd love to be able to schedule it to run automagically, say, every week or so to just download the latest trailers from that week.

Future requests would be an mce interface (with viewer if poss!) and more output about what trailer its actually downloading.

Very interested in your program, however I cannot get it to download any files from apple. It will read "scanning" for a min, then a message "all done downloading trailers", however there are no files in the defined directory. What am I doing wrong? maybe i missed something on the install?

Thanks! Great app! Wondering if you know of any free mpeg4 codecs for windows media player so I can view these apple trailers within MCE? I have tried 3vix, ACEmedia, no luck. Thanks!

Get Quicktime Alternative, then edit the registry to show .mov as a valid video type.

    Works fine then.

RE: Apple HD movies on your MCE

Still having problems. . . here is what happens, run Downt. . . I wait for it to download a couple of trailers ( i.e. program reads 5 of 64)  then I cancel the application. I see the program downloaded a couple of trailers in my defined directory, all of them .mp4 files. When I open these files in :

    Quicktime: Error -50 type unknown

Windows Media Player: encountered an error, the standard "dont send report"

3ivid: error downloading codec from WMP

    Quicktime Alternative: no response

    AceMedia player: no response

Every other codec generated by google search " free mpeg4 codec " : no repsonse

HELP! What am I doing wrong here, all I want to do is download a couple of  HD trailers via this program (great program by the way) and play them within media center!!!!! I can see the mpeg4 files, why can't I play these in anything!!!!

    HELP!

RE: Apple HD movies on your MCE

    I like this app.

I think about create a small tutorial/manual about how setting up your MCE, for playing these MP4 (quicktime) files. Cause people who saw it, really liked it.

A few "feature" request for the app, I don't know if you like it to improve

    - Automatically start download en check for new trailers, maybe with a scheduler, so it looks every 4hours if there is a new trailer available.
    - It would be nice if the downloadpath was saved, so you don't have to retype it everytime you start the app.
    - Maybe it is possible to create a MCE app of it, so you can change the settings with your remote.
    - I don't know if this is already the fact, but when the apps, starts downloading, will it skips the trailers, that are already downloaden?

    Well, enough for now.

If you improve (in my eyes ) your app or not, I already like it.

RE: Apple HD movies on your MCE

OK Nice to see you all like the App I will make a improved version and also look in to getting it to be a MCE plug-in So you can do it all from the comfort of the sofa and by a remote

About playing mp4 files The best decoder for this is to get FFdshow from here and Matrosk splitter from here

and then use this register file to get Media player to recognize mp4 extensions

RE: Apple HD movies on your MCE

i receive the same error with Quicktime.  i even purchased the pro version hoping it would fix it, but no luck.  Apple's tech support is no help either.

the other problem i am having is that the video playback is choppy and laggy.  i have an AMD FX51 chip with 1 GB of RAM, so i wouldn't think it was the PC.  is there a way to make it run better in FFDSHOW?  thanks.

RE: Apple HD movies on your MCE

nevermind.  i think i figured out why my PC was acting so slow.  don't ask me how, but it works now.

however, i am still having problems with Quicktime.

RE: Apple HD movies on your MCE

Thanks for the link on the decoder and the media splitter, however when I play an MP4 file in Windows Media Player all I get is the audio no video, and some of the MP4 files won't play at all. I downloaded the alpha decoder and the basic decoder and tried to mess around with some of the settings within both, is there anything I have to set? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks again for the app, if I were a rich man I would make a donation

RE: Apple HD movies on your MCE

You have to install the 2 codecs I have posted about in the last post on the first page then ffdshow and the splitter will do the decode and all will act nicely. If not then pleas post what codec and what version you have of mce and I will look in to it.

also there is not changes to make to the codecs all is good from the install

RE: Apple HD movies on your MCE

Great program - it works fine for me.

But im looking forward to more batch options. It would be nice if it was possible to get new trailers in 720 from Apple once a day - automaticly :-)
