DVi -> HDMI cable wont wake screen

When i switch to my xbox or put the tv on standby, i have to reboot the media center to get a picture back again - in the UK SCART cables send a small amount of voltage to awaken a screen, does the HMI not do this?

I have the same problem and I found 2 ways to make this work. You can unplug and then reconnect the cable or you can set your screen saver for 1 min and then switch you video to your mce machine and then press a button on the remote to refresh your screen. Just make sure if you do the seconf option you don't leave any live tv or recorded tv playing or the screen saver will never turn on.

are you guys using ATI cards? this has been a problem since catalyst 5.7 and I've been trying to get people to open cases with ATI and give me their case numbers to get ATI techs to work on it (i'm an ATI partner and they'll send it on to their engineers if I can give them enough proof of the issue). If you're not using ATI cards, maybe the problem lies elsewhere, but I never had a problem until using their newer driver. My workaround is to use the Microsoft remote PC power button which puts the machine into a sleep state. Once it's sleeping, just push the button again to wake it and the display will come back. The process takes maybe 20 seconds and is entirely controlable from the remote. Hope this helps.

yes i'm using the x300 Radeon card and only noticed this after upgrading to the latest catalyst driver....(which did solve my screen resolution headaches).

What do you want me to do?

Yes, I have a ATI 9550 256mb ddr card connected to a Sony LCD TV. The only problem Mammoth with doing that is if you are recording something you won't be able to power it down till the recording is done.

    I also have this issue, 9600pro w/ the cat 5.8's going DVI->HDMI->Hitachi 51s715

This was previously working for me, but now I can't figure out what driver it was that I was using as I can't get DVD hardware acceleration working on the 5.5, 5.6 seems like the play back is jerky. I didn't try 5.7 but I guess this wake issue is there as well.

If you need anymore info about my configuration let me know.

Same problem here with Radeon 9600Pro (256MB) and Catalyst 5.8.  I've sent a support ticket to Ati.  DVi->HDMi-> Pioneer PDP434HDE

RE: DVi -> HDMI cable wont wake screen

As for the workaround, I agree it sucks -- it will stop recordings, etc... but it's the quickest way I know to get your display back up.

What I'd like for you guys to do (Please, Please, Please) is go through the ATI support process to report this problem. ATI will generate a case number for you. Send to me or post your case numbers so that I can call their OEM support and get them to fix it in the next driver release. It would be helpful if you could provide me with the results (the .txt file) of the problem report wizard which they'll probably have you run.

Last thing I'd like is to know the displays you are using. I know this will be an absolute bother, but if we want it fixed, the only ways is for us to go through the ATI support process. Please don't hesitate to post any additional questions about this or PM me if you need some additional help. This is a major headache for me and I can't seem to get anyone to provide me with the ammo I need to get ATI moving.

To get started with with the support process,

    https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894

To download the problem report wizard,

    https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894

I've already generated my ticket with them, but they will not proceed until I provide them with additional reported cases. Many thanks for this,

    Jason

RE: DVi -> HDMI cable wont wake screen

yes, it's not limited to hdmi. i also am using dvi to sony panel. it's any digital output. the issue is in the driver so the cabling won't matter so much. Just please fill out the support tickets as referenced above and get me your case numbers so we can get this fixed in the next one or two catalyst releases. Please, this issue is driving me mad.

I submitted it under catalyst crew feedback, would there have been a better one?
