I run VMC on a Home Premium machine, with two harddrives used for storage. I do some manual load balancing by switching the recording drive between the two now and then. I'm wondering - does this cause problems with the storage management in media center?
Over the past couple of months (first time I started filling up the second drive), I have noticed times when VMC marks almost all of my recordings for deletion. Even after I manually deleted a bunch of older recordings, it still showed almost everything as being marked for deletion. I swapped back to the other drive realizing it was probably only looking at my current recording directory (one of the drives), which might have been full. That fended it off each of the times I caught it.
Now, while I was away for thanksgiving, it deleted about 80% of the recordings on the current drive, wiping away things that were recorded that week. Although the drive was filling up, I would have expected it to delete a few of the older recordings to make way for new ones. Instead, it deleted about 300gigs of recordings off of a directory with 400gigs total. Any clue why it is doing this, or how I can fix it?
Thanks,
Jeff
