I’m trying to resolve an issue with syncing my music between different computers using Media Player 11 and Media Center PC. I have over 1000 MP3’s and WMA music files that I recently copied over to my HPMediasmart Home Server with media sharing enabled. For some reason 10 or so different artists with MP3’s will not show in my workstations’ media player library. I have two laptops and one media center pc which I just assume uses the media files in the media player on that system. I also have an Xbox360 that I use both as an MC extender and use the media sharing directly on the system.

When using the Xbox itself as a music player all files are available, only on the two laptops and the MCPC are the ones I’ve having an issue with. When I point the library to Network share on the home server all files show up except the 10 or so artists. If I copy the missing mp3 files to the local machine Media Player instantly shows them in the library on each device. Now some might say leave well enough alone but I fear there might be other songs I’m missing and without having to manually sync each workstation and go through my 1000 songs I trying to derive an explanation to why only certain files will not show up from a shared drive versus locally.

Looking for any help on this matter.
