Extender won't play Live TV, Recorded TV, or Music

Installed a DMA 2100 and everything looks fine on both ends.  However, once you try to watch live TV, watch recorded TV, or listen to music, it just hangs.  You get the Vista swirl, and it will sit there for hours. I have yet to get this to work.  Same problem on 2 extenders.  See image below.   Any ideas?

I can browse pictures just fine.

    Thank you in advance!

The fact that you can connect and look at pictures points to a networking problem. Either not enough bandwidth or Norton (or a similar firewall) thinks this is not normal traffic.

    Things to try.

Connect wired. If wireless, make sure at leastthe server is wired. I hope you have g or n, with b you can't do much..

Check the firewall settings. Make your home network a trusted network.

I was having exactly the same problem with both a Linksys DMA2100 and an Xbox 360. Can view photos ok, and can see the list of recorded programmes, but as soon as I try to play a recording on either extender it hangs.

Found the culprit was the gigabit switch. Method 2 of this solution solved the problem: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929707
