Does anyone know of a program that will allow me to convert dvr-me recorded programs in my recorded tv section to avi or wmv files so I can archive them and save room.

MCEBuddy will do it, but it runs automatically.  It doesn't have an MCE configuration interface.  It does run as a service though, so once you set it, it takes care of all recordings once they're finished at a time you specify (while removing commercials).
