    HD with AGP X1950

Hi, I have as my media centre a ageing system, I currently run an AGP X1950 Pro, however playing BBC HD I have noticed the screen gets a bit jumpy, also looking at ITVHD footly last week the screen became blurred.

I am considering in upgrading the Graphics Card, as upgrading the Motherboard and Processor is too expensive project.

Would I notice any benefit of upgrading to a ATI  HD 3850 AGP?

I do not play any games.

probably depends on your CPU.  buddy of mine has a Athlon XP 3200 and we tried an Asus AGP 3650 to see if his system could handle 1080p MKVs, no dice.  within 15 seconds audio and video were out of sync.

for about $200 (including shipping/tax) you could replace the MB/CPU/RAM with the following which should be fine in decoding HD

    ASUS M3A78-EM $76
    AMD Athlon X2 4850e  $67
    Kingston 2GB kit DDR2-800
    $33

the card you mention runs about $130-$200 depending on who you buy it from.  granted this will require a new OS installation, but you will end up with a more current system with better options for upgrading should you desire too.

okay if you are talking about the system in your sig, then you a should have a PCIe video card.  if that is the case you can pickup a Radeon 4550 for $60-70 and youre set
