    Sharing non-managed directory with WHS

I have a Terabyte USB disk full of content.  I've learned that I can (with powerpack) simply plug the disk into the WHS box in order to access it and copy files.

What are the implications and risks if I were to "share" a directory on this non-managed disk (the disk has not been added to the storage pool)?

The disk contains DVD rips and I don't need the contents of the disk to be duplicated or backed up, only shared to my network. In the event of catastrophe I can simply re-rip the disks.

What strategy are others using with WHS when you have a significant existing library of content?

My ultimate goal is to use my existing library through WHS to serve my Vista Media Center.

    Thanks,
    _Chris

There is no risk, it's meant to be shared. When you install it on WHS, just don't add it to the storage pool. It'll be it's own disk sitting out there not touched by the rest of the system.
