Looks like an uninstallation is inevitable! :-(
If your looking to "nuke" your settings and try again, there might be something to try before nuking your whole system.
In the ehome directory there is a big DB file, delete it and media center should be back to first run (first time you run setup). You might have to delete it in Safe mode. If any of the media center programs are using it, it wont let you do anything with it.
