It is comptible with all PCs with USB2.0 high speed 480mbps PLUS ready for the future with E-sata (part of the reason for the PRO designation) E-sata is super highspeed--like having an internal hard drive, but with convenience of external portability. It runs up to 5-6 times faster than USB2.0 at 3gbps that's 3000mbps! If your PC does not have an Esata port, either the next one will and you'll be all set, or it's easy and cheap enough to add one ($10-$20 for a card). But you'll be all set with the wire included in the box.
