DMA2100 Music Library not recognizing media changes

Is this how it's supposed to work?

I want to fix the id3 info on my music, so on the VMC I open Media Player and change all the info that I want.  (Specifically, the genres of all my music was fooked up.)  Now, on the VMC the music is ordered properly by genre, but on the extender the old genres still exist.

The extender will find new items and play everything correctly, but the genres are all screwed up.

Re-add the folder on the 2100 and it will find the adjustments, I went through this just the other day. Whether this is supposed to be the way it works I don't know, but that's what fixed it.

Re: DMA2100 Music Library not recognizing media changes

    Thanks, LASooner,

I removed all folders from the extender's watch list.  2 folders would not remove, each named the same, "C:\Users\Mcx1-XPS420\Music".

I checked the library at this point, there were no changes to the music.

I then re-added "C:\Users\Public\Music" and the "adding media dialog appeared.  When it completed, there were zero songs added.

I checked the library again and no changes.

Do you think I have to completely reset the extender?  That would be thoroughly irritating...  :o(

Well, it may be overkill, but completely re-setting up the extender works.

It's only a few minutes work, but a real PITA.  Grrr.

    Thanks for your help, lasooner.

Hmm sorry it didn't work for you just resetting the folders, as I said, that worked for mine, but at least you got it working by resetting the extender.

Each extender has its own Library; chnages to the main PC library re not reflected in the Extenders.

You can delete the extender's Library file from the hard disk, which makes it rebuild it from scratch.

Is the extender library located in the c:\users\mcx-*** folders?

Re: DMA2100 Music Library not recognizing media changes

This whole thing seems like such a major oversight of a BASIC feature. This would be the equivalent of recording a show on the PC. Watching it on an extender. Deleting it from the PC and having it remain in the library and show an error when played. This is rediculous... you have to wonder sometimes what these companies are thinking... do they even test this stuff?

    Yes

    Sorry for the delay.

I just wanted to update the thread with the info that this procedure works just fine.

Be sure you can view hidden files and folders.

The location of the "currentdatabase_360" on my VMC is slightly different.  The path is:

    c:\users\mcx1-***\app data\local\microsoft\media player\
