That is the message I get for the last two days on my Vista Home Premium Media Center.  It says:

"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"

Has anyone ever encountered that?  The weird thing is, my scheduled programs for recording still take place, and I can sneak into the recorded programs area by right clicking the icon in the systray, but it won't let me go anywhere else when I try clicking the back arrow.

I did download and install a free video editing tool, Avidemux, and it didn't work right so I uninstalled it.  That's about the time this started happening.  I tried system restore, but even it fails saying there is an error somewhere.  I think this post is different than the others.  At least they say "Media Center restarting..."  Mine just quits...period!

Anyone have any ideas on what I should do?

 

Have you tried a system restore?

Yes, I have performed system restore several times.  The first 2 or 3 it failed to complete but today I went back more than a week and it completed successfully.  However, same error message keeps coming up every time I try to start Media Center.

It's funny, I can open Media Player and locate all the recorded videos and play them fine from WMP, but I can't see live TV from there.:-)
