Hi all,
I have a Windows XP MCE PC that has been running full-time maintenance-free for about three years now.
The stock fan on my video card started to get really noisy a few weeks back, and would occasionally stop turning at all. It was an NVidia FX 5700 LE AGP video card. It was hooked to my TV using an S-Video to RCA cable, which worked perfectly for what I use the HTPC for.
Instead of buying a new fan for the current video card, I just bought a replacement card off of EBay. The replacement card is a PNY Verto Nvidia GeForce 6200 Graphics Card & Heatpipe with a Zalman Fanless Dual Heatpipe ZM80D-HP Noiseless Cooler.
I swapped the card out, and now can't get my video to sync to my TV. When I first turn the HTPC on, I can see the POST fine on the TV, and then when XP MCE is loading, I see the Windows logo and the scrolling animation OK, but as soon as the Windows GUI actually comes up, the TV starts scrolling black bars and the video totally fuzzes out.
I use VNC to remote into the box from a laptop, and I've tried upgrading and downgrading drivers, changed every setting I can find in the NVidia control panel app, and yet I still can't seem to get this new video card to sync with my TV (which is an old 26" tube standard def TV, btw.)
The FX 5700 LE just worked. I never had to mess with any settings or anything. I'm not sure why this 6200 is being such a pain. Does anyone have any suggestions? My next thought is to pull the Zalmann Fanless Dual Heatpipe off the 6200 and see if I can mount it on my 5700 LE... but I thought I'd post the question here first and see if anyone could save me the trouble.
Thanks!!!
