Tool for Movie Browser (Updated 20080813)

    Hi!
I made a tool to convert mymovies.xml files to Movie Browser categories.
Check out the tooltips and the info button for help.

    Download:
    http://home.arcor.de/goofee/Files/MCE-VMBC.zip

    Website:
    http://www.goofee.de.vu
    or
    http://www.vmbc.de.vu

    Edit:
Program requirers admin priveleges to write the category files.

Updated the program at the given download location:
    v0.98
    13.08.2008
        - fixed: movies with less than 4 actors would list whole mymovies.xml
instead of empty actor slot in category's xml file
        - fixed: incorrect reading of director
        - fixed: incorrect reading of actors
        - all 3 bugs would cause Movie Browser only to display movies in that
category up to the point the error occured

    v0.9.5 Update
    21.07.2008
        - fixed: cleaned up code, some parts could potentially cause errors,
one would crash the program on startup
        - changed: chosen movie directories are now being remembered for faster
          handling of updates to database
    v0.9.5
    04.07.2008
        - added: option to add movies to multiple categories
        - added: option to do multiple backups instead of overwriting
        - fixed: one time error message would occur when loading settings after
new option had been added to program

    Re: Tool for Movie Browser

Sorry about that. Does Movie Browser only run on Vista? I believe the tool should run on XP though I haven't tested it yet. Will then of course not require privileges.

    Edit:
I tried under XP Pro by creating a MovieBrowser directory in c:\windows\ehome and putting categories.xml and main.html inside as the converter checks for the existance of those two files to make sure Movie Broser is installed. It ripped all the mymovies.xml into categories in that directory so I suppose it should work fine.

However, I found two bugs. If your DPI-Resolution is set to below 120 (96 in my case) the controls will be slightly cut off which doesn't look too pretty. Shouldn't be too hard to fix but may take a little while. Not sure if you could just change the resolution setting of the application.
The number of movies control is also cut of and it should display 20 but only the 2 is visible. If you experience this bug you might want to leave it at 20 until I got it fixed and then simply rescan the database.

The other bug I found seems to be XP related and I don't know if I will be able to fix it. The tooltip control doesn't display the tooltips. You should be able to get all info needed by clicking the info button and scrolling down 1 page. Edit2: Actually I had balloon tooltips disabled in xp, works fine.

I'm not sure how long I will be able to maintain my current webspace. If anyone would like to mirror the file on theirs please do so and post the location in this thread or if you know of a good place to upload to please let me know.
