    Recording On Demand With HDHomeRun

This is fast and dirty, it requires your HDHomeRun to be set up and working.  It also requires that you have On Demand and Can Play it yourself, or if you can get your neighbor to be nice you can see his too (ussually)

I will do a better write up later.  I couldnt get the shortcut to work on short notice Ill try again later.

With the HDHomeRun setup and working.

Open the HDHomeRun Gui and find the QAM channel you will be using.  Mines around 104

Click the Launch VLC button verify thats what you want to record by pausing rewinding etc.

    Leave it playing for now.

open a new copy of VLC

    Click open > Network Stream

    check the Stream/Save box

    Change the "Customize" line to
    udp:@:5000

    Click the settings box

Check the Play Locally and the File boxes.

    Browse and type your name

    Change the encapsulation to mpeg1

    Click ok

Rewind the movie as soon as VLC shows it playing in the first window hit ok on the other VLC window.

    Close the first VLC window

The second VLC window should now be playing and saving, when the show is over click the stop button.

If you saved it to the right place it should be imidiately available in Media Center.
