Application popup: : \SystemRoot\System32\RDPDD.dll failed to load

I wanted to post this item here as it just recently happened to me and could happen to someone else.  I have an NVIDIA Video card, more specifically the 6800GT, but that shouldn't matter.  I had updated the driver, trying to keep up with the latest that is available.  Sometime later I tried using my XBOX in the Den that was connected to my TV as I wanted to view a recorded program from my Media Center PC.  When I selected Media Center in the menu on the XBOX it came up with the
"Contacting . . . " screen but nothing ever happened; it had been working fine just a couple weeks earlier.  I found the following Event on my Media Center PC:

    Event Type: Information
    Event Source: Application Popup
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 26
    Date:  6/24/2008
    Time:  5:26:01 PM
    User:  N/A
    Computer: KEITHDO-MCE
    Description:
Application popup:  : \SystemRoot\System32\RDPDD.dll failed to load

For more information, see Help and Support Center at

After some searching on the Internet I found this may be related to my new NVIDIA driver.  I rolled back to the previous one and now I am working fine.  Version that wasn't working - 175.16.  Rolled back to 169.21 to make things work.

    Thanks,

Seems to be some problems with this new driver, all though from what I've found out when searching for my problem, this has been going on for previous versions.  My problem with the driver is that it rescales the display after coming out of stand-by, with about a 2 inch black border on each side of the screen. I then have to open up the Nvidia control panel and set it to "No scaling". The display then goes full screen but as soon as it goes to into stand-by (sleep mode) I have to reset it again.  Tried everything to make it keep the "No Scaling" setting but it refuses to stay.  I to went back to 169.21 and the picture is great and everything  works.  Guess the motto "If it ain't broke done fix it" applies.  Nothing to do with your problem, but I thought I would share...

I advise you to stick with their MCE2005 driver available from their archive. It's dated April '07 if I remember correctly.

Here's more options. I don't think you really need to revert the nvidia drivers:
