"Upconverting" DVD video in MCE 2005 vis 780g chipset

Hi, I have a question that I can't seem to find an answer to.

I'm building an HTPC based on MCE2005.  This build will not be used to watch or record TV (I have an existing HTPC for that).  It will be used primarily do watch DVD video ripped to HDD's.   I'm familiar with MCE and the software/OS end is not a problem.

Currently, I use a Pioneer Upconverting DVD player connected to the Samsung LNT5271 TV via HDMI.  It does a great job upconvering SD DVD,s from 480 to 1080p.

The build I am planning would be based on this Gigabyte Mobo :
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16813128335
which has the AMD/ATI 780g chipset for onboard video via HDMI.  All reviews are positive but concentrate on original HD content.

SO, my question is this:  Will DVD video from MCE be upconverted/ scaled up by hardware, or will I be stuck with 480?

I've contacted Gigabyte and AMD, but it was obvious none of them understood the question.

    All help appreciated!

You'll have to use the DVD player in the PC, so there is no upconversion as far as I know.

buy a copy of anydvd and it'll upconvert.
you can even set ffdshow as the dvd decoder (though I'm not sure if that'll cause other problems) and use its post processing filters.

Everything on the PC is always scaled to the output resolution.  Analog connections for CSS protected DVDs are limited to 480p, but AnyDVD gets around that.
