Hello, I have recently been trying to build myself a semi-quiet HTPC that will easily play 1080p playback.  I have had mixed reviews about nVidia 8600s so I decided to go with a ATI 3650.  Here are the specs.

ASUS P5K PRO
Core2Dup 2.53
2GB RAM (Do I need 3 for 1080p and vista?)
MSI HD 3650 512MB

Now heres my question.  Will this easily be able to play 1080p playback?  As for the connection right now, I am just going to connect via VGA input and a headphone jack.  Next year I plan on getting a sound card and a sound system to go with it, and connect the HDMI cable to the sound system along with the sound card and connect HDMI and sound together through the sound system.

Question: Why do you mention Nvidia cards in your first paragraph, but then list a Radeon in your listed specs.

Besides that, I think you'll be fine running 1080p. I run 1080p on a Yonah 2.0ghz laptop with a nVidia Quatro FX 2500m (equivelent GeForce 7900GTX)

What where the mixed things you heard about the 8600s???

yeah I'm running an 8600 with no problems either, strange.
