    2 x Dual Hauppage T500 Freeview Tuners

I am considering adding a second freeview dual digital tuner to my existing config. Does anyone know if the MCE Tuner Extender on http://mce.ramonvanbruggen.nl/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1 works without problems ? or at least problems that can be quickly backed out.

I need to avoid conflicts with the main user of the system although she does want more recording capability !.

And a supplemnentary if I may - do the tuners have to be identical or is Vista MCE happy to manage tuners from different manufacturers ?

    Thanks

    Mike

No, the tuners don't have to be the same - I was using a Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T-SE (USB stick) and an old KWorld PCI card together without incident. The only issue is that if one tuner is performing badly, you don't know which one. Because of this I upgraded to a T500. I'm considering adding a second, so I'm also curious if the tuner extender works!

I have got 2 x T500s in my Media PC. I just used the registry tweaks to set them up. They work fine, allowing me to watch one channel whilst recording 3 others or stream 1 channel to my extender, watch one on the pc and record 2 others!

I do find that ocassionally Vista gets a bit confused and only thinks it has 2 tuners not 4 forcing me to re-apply the registry tweaks, but otherwise all is good.

    hi...

The Hauppauge HVR-2200 is a single slot PCIe card with a dual digital SD/HD tuner together with a dual analogue tuner. It has hardware MPEG2 encoding capabilities and comes with a CD of drivers... It is OEM so the paperwork is virtually non-existent... I have not yet connected my rig to the Bravia TV (still testing on a 15" LCD panel) but Vista Ultimate recognised the card without any problem...

My question is what software to use to automatically record HDTV...? I have been looking at WinTVCD and the beta version of ngrc...

Anybody tried those or are successfully using something else...

    cheers Ian
