A lot of simple electronics will work fine after being washed - you just have to make sure you let them dry fully before plugging them back in.  I've run several flash drives through the wash, and put my keyboard through the dishwasher.
    Just my $0.02.

I was quite surprised that they still worked.
My Sony Ericsson phone didn't survive when I bent over the toliet and it popped out of my shirt pocket and straight down the pan. Surprise [:O]

Next time immediatly pop the battery off, open it up, and let it air-dry for about a week before trying to turn it back on - this will often work for phones.  Smile [:)]

Yeah I didn't let it dry out properly and as a result it was toast and totally dead.
I had no insurance cover either so had to revert back to an older phone till I got my new yearly
    handset from T-Mobile.
