Hi,
No one has asked for this, but it is only a matter of time, so I thought I'd post a solution for the next poor sod this happens to ...
If you use Nvidia Raid5 and you lose a disk, the array goes into a degraded state, and the failed disk is put into a new raid 5 array marked error.
The method of rebuilding the array is not at all obvious
1) make sure you have the latest version of MediaShield (15.08) as 15.01 crashes under vista
2) Replace the faulty drive (if neccessary, sometimes a small write failure will cause degradation)
3) DELETE the array with the single disk that is marked in the error state - NOT the array in the degraded state
4) Media shield will then show a degraded Raid5 array, and one free disk
5) select the degraded array and select Rebuild. The confusion arises in the fact the rebuild option only appears when you have a free disk
6) Medishield will then start to rebuild your array.

Buy a mobo with an Intel raid controller on it instead ...
I hope it never happens to you
