Pinnacle PCTV DVB-T Stick Solo and Windows Vista compatibility

    Hi guys,

I was burnt by the whole Freecom DVB-T USB stick and Windows Vista Media Centre scenario whereby the stick was said to be Windows Vista compatible, but because of the way Freecom had written the drivers, some channels were unwatchable because of an offset frequency (or something like that).  I.E., it scanned and found all channels, but then couldn't view some of them.

I have found the above USB TV card (Pinnacle PCTV DVB-T Stick Solo), and this too is also listed as Windows Vista compatible.  What I want to know is, will it work properly with Vista Media Centre in the way that the Freecom stick didn't?  I've searched the forum but couldn't come up with any answers.

    Thank you for your help.

    Michael.

EDIT - Here is the support page for the Pinnacle USB stick if that can help in my query. http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/uk/Products/Consumer+Products/PCTV+Tuners/PCTV+Analog+PVR+%28cable_antenna%29/Pinnacle+MediaCenter+Support/Download+Area/Drivers+-+Updates/PCTV+Drivers.htm?mode=documents&newProductDisplayName=PCTV+DVB-T+Stick+Solo&newProductName=PCTV+DVB-T+Stick

I'm possibly in the market for a DVB-T stick for Vista Ultimate as well; so I'll add a bump to this thread, too.

I'd say at this point you might just want to give Pinnacle support an email and get them to state in writing that it does not have the problem that you describe; then at least if you order it, you should easily be able to return it if it does end up being a problem.

Re: Pinnacle PCTV DVB-T Stick Solo and Windows Vista compatibility

I don't know if this is of any help, but I'll toss in my two cents worth as well.

I'm running VMC with a pair of Pinnacle dual DVB-T cards (yes, four simultaneous channels, very greedy, I know!) which are allegedly not VMC compatible.  However, there are drivers for them on the Pinnacle website which seem to work fine and I don't get any incompatibility issues from them.  Or at least I've not seen anything to suggest that they give me problems.

I'd suggest going to the Pinnacle website (http://www.pinnaclesys.com) and looking for the Vista drivers.
