First, I would like to mention that I have learned an incredible amount from this forum. Thank you guys for your expertise and time here. Anyway, onto the question:
I previously had my MCE connected via S-Video to my CRT.
I purchased a 37" LG HDTV (LG 37LC2D) two days ago. Obviously, S-Video is not good enough anymore.
I plan on upgrading my video card with DVI output. I also plan on purchasing a DVI to HDMI cable to run it from my MCE's DVI out to my HDTV's HDMI in.
I know that I need a separate audio connection from my MCE to the HDTV. (I plan on having sound come from the HDTV's speakers--very basic hookup.)
The LG 37LC2D does not have anything that indicates "Audio In" when using DVI-to-HDMI. There is however in the manual (I have taken the liberty of scanning it - http://chlog.org/images/lg-manual.jpg
Link) an input for something they call "Audio RGB/DVI" under "RGB IN". The manual also indicates that I need a RCA to 3.5mm cable. Specifically, the RCA connects to the MCE's audio out and the 3.5mm goes into the "Audio RGB/DVI In". The problem is, I do not have RCA audio out on my MCE. My question is:
Can I get a 3.5mm to 3.5mm (M/M) cable and connect one end on my MCE sound card's audio out and the other end on the HDTV's "Audio RGB/DVI In".
Please help. I do not want my new (and first!) HDTV to blow up on me! =p Please let me know if I need to supply any more information.
