Visa MCE no longer plays DVD in folders

It looks like Vista MCE no longer plays DVD folders. If I go into a folder that used to play just fine on MCE 2005 Vista MCE just shows me the video_ts folder.  Go into that and it says no video files were found.  Ouch.  Anyone else get it to work?

I can play DVDs from a folder using Media Player by opening the vob file, so Vista understands DVD as previously reported.  Yay, no more mpeg-2 codec messing.  I haven't installed any other codec's on the machine.

I hate to put on my tin foil hat, but you really have to wonder why MS did this.

It works fine on mine.  It might be because I enabled DVD gallery in the registry though.

    1) Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Settings\DvdSettings

    2) Under the 'ShowGallery' string change the value from 'Play' to 'Gallery'.

    3) Restart MCE and you will not see My DVD showing.

Then when in the DVD gallery I clicked info and added more DVD locations.

Re: Visa MCE no longer plays DVD in folders

Ok, I tried that.  It still won't play DVD folders in the video library area.  I can now use the dvd library area but it's total rubbish.  I can't sort the movies into sub-folders and it has only found 10 of 25 movies.

I have no idea why MS has taken a huge step back like this. Maybe it's just a bug?

    Thanks though.

I noticed even if I added my main DVD folder to the videos section, it would refuse to show up. I enabled DVD Gallery, and am pretty happy with that solution.

I also had to revert back to the Microsoft mpg2 decoder, Nvidia's refused to play DVD's, and chopped/lip sync issues on HDTV.

Are you talking about dvd folders in the video library or the dvd library?

    Thanks.
