TV Out with RC1 and Nvidia Vista Drivers

    All,

I have a dedicated MCE PC whose sole job is to record TV and hold my music collection.  It's connected to my RPTV via s-video (had problems with other connections in the past).

With XP, I was connected just fine via my Nvidia GeForce FX5200 passively cooled card.  With Vista, I can't seem to get it to connect properly (just get the grainy black and white connection).  Everything looks just fine when I connect a regular monitor.

Any ideas?  I don't want to have to roll back if I can avoid it, but I can't seem to find a way to get the settings right.  I've tried using the Nvidia Control Panel (which is a bear to find in Vista) but there are no TV-specific settings I can change there.

Thanks in advance for your help.

The nvidia drivers for RC1 is just released, you could try to update the standard MS build video driver with the Nvidia drivers for Vista.

    See nvidia website.

According to Nvidia's site, the control panel now supports HDTV. Finally!

If it's the same as Beta 2, then check the Control Panel to find the Nvidia Control Panel.

    It was tricky to find.

Go to control panel, make sure you don't have classic view selected.

In the bottom right hand corner of the list you'll see an "Additional..." option.  Select that and you'll find the control panel for Nvidia.

Re: TV Out with RC1 and Nvidia Vista Drivers

OK, so I got the new driver from Nvidia, but I still don't have the TV settings in the Nvidia Control Panel.  I can only change 3D settings or the DualView/Clone settings.  There is no option for TV settings.

Anyone else having the same problem?  I can't connect direct to my TV except through s-video or a transcoder and my transcoder seems to be on the fritz.

Re: TV Out with RC1 and Nvidia Vista Drivers

There are hardly any settings. I have a 1080i TV and there's no setting for over/underscan. Another issue is that controlling the volume does nothing. It may be that I'm using SPDI/F out. However, my receiver doesn't show it as digital out. Media Player, however, works when I move the volume slider.

Re: TV Out with RC1 and Nvidia Vista Drivers

Try using TV Tool to enable it. It might work under Vista...

I got my Radeon 9600XT tv-out to work by manually installing some ancient drivers (from 2004) in Vista..... would you believe that?

Re: TV Out with RC1 and Nvidia Vista Drivers

i have tried tv tool.. and im getting  amessage on the settings page that says nvidia has not released the instructions set for my card... but i can use the mv options.... which also do nothing when i click the mv settings button....

my main problem is i need a flicker filter and digi gamma reducement

i really hope nvidia ships drivers with the full nvcpl and not just this 3d settings one

Re: TV Out with RC1 and Nvidia Vista Drivers

    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone managed to resolve this.... I now have Vista RTM and have used the latest Nvidia drivers which has the montior configuration screen.... it still has no effect on the TV output being blurry and grey and white.  Any ideas?

    Cheers - scott

Re: TV Out with RC1 and Nvidia Vista Drivers

I am also in same position. I did read somewhere that the TV out issue wasn't the highest priority with Nvidia, and I can understand this, however my screen is ok just isn't at the right refresh rate so the readability in computer mode is a bit of a disaster.

Anyone got any more informed clues?

    Nigel
