Dear MSAS users.

Since several years I’ve been writing applications based on the MSAS (Media State Aggregation Service). Again and again I encounter problems (I don’t want to call them bugs or issues). Therefore I’m looking for a list with known problems/bugs/issues related to MSAS. I’m not interested in problems how to make MSAS usable in an application and how to adapt registry keys – that works in my opinion quite good.

Therefore my question: Is there already a list existing? If not, I would collect the MSAS related problems in this thread, if this is acceptable for you.

Please give me feedback.

MSAS problem list

1) When playing mp3 MSAS transfers the music media tags. But when the title number in the mp3 is missing MSAS transfers no music media tags. In MCE the data will be displayed correctly. (seen in Windows 7).

2) In Windows 7 the MSAS MediaLength and MediaTime tags aren't passing the correct data.  They work fine for Recorded TV but in Live TV MediaTime starts at 1 when you start watching live TV and MediaLength is passing the same value as MediaTime.  It then increments until Live TV is stopped.  It was correct in Vista.

3) Windows 7 doesn't report the parental rating anymore. It was correct in Vista.

4) There's a bug in MSAS where the name of the TV show that you're watching doesn't provide if you've watched a show in the same series immediately before, and deleted the previous show before watching the show that has the problem.
