    TheOsburnFamil,

If you select all the channels and press your space bar, doesn't that clear them all?

Perfect! I should have picked up on that since I was actually using the spacebar to uncheck them! lol--I just never thought about the ctrl-a part!

Man, this will save a crap load of time when I have to reload my VMC machine again.

    Thanks for the great tool!

There is a display problem on 64 bits systems.

    It will be corrected shortly.

Excellent program Fred - much easier than using the guide editing tool within MC :-)

    Thanks

Brian my friend, you watch too much tv Smile [:)]

Hah! Well, I estimate probably 25 of those are my wife's and another 10 are my kid's :). I record way more than I ever watch. I figure if I've got the hdd space and tuners, why not? When I had my Tivo + external hdd I had it recording every HD Documentary that aired. This way I'm all but guarunteed there's always something interesting to watch whenever I have time.

    Backing up series recordings:

    loadmxf -i <backup>

Data is in the ProgramData\eHome\mcedb\backups\recordings folder, I believe (don't have access to the PC at the moment.)

If there's a series in your series recordings that it doesn't see in the guide though, it shows a blank spot for some reason, so it's not perfect (yet).

Thanks! I'll play around with it.

    Dear Fred,
first of all, very many thanks for sharing your wonderful project.

Unfortunately, I'm having some problems in using Guide Tool on W7MC (build 7100) with a 3rd part EPG guide data alredy injected (loaded).
I mean: I can only subscribe EPG data manually, but not using the automated process (by number or by call-sign). However, the worst thing is that I don't find a complete list of EPG data available, in the right window. I should find almost 170 channels, but I can see only 76 (and, above all, they are all duplicated).
Unfortunately, in Italy we don't have any other chance except for using a third part EPG, because it's impossible to grab informations correctly from SAT.
I hope you can understand what I'm trying to explain using a scholastic and awful english (sorry)

    Thanks in advance,
    Caboto

    Hi Caboto,

Guide Tool shows only the lineups from the Media Center database that are in your region. I guess the guide services that you'd like to display are not part of you region. I'd like to see your database and get an idea how I can add those manually added guide services.

If you're interested, send me a PM and we can try to work something out together.

I was kind of hoping that this tool changed the channel that the tuner tunes to. Media Center isn't letting me input more than 4-digit subchannels when adding a qam channel.

Are there any limitations on merging tuners with this program? I have a STB setup with the DVBLink as well as two CableCard tuners. Right now, every channel in my EPG is duplicated, 1 instance for the cabelcards, a second for the DVB tuner for the STB. I cannot get the merger tuners feature to merge these two together. Is this a limitation? Is there any additional documentation or instructions on how to accomplish this? Any feedback is appreciated.

Excellent work, Fred.  I love you.

I echo other's comments about backup.

I only had a quick play, I will give it a proper go when I rebuilt, but I have a few comments:

It's not easy to see which Guide Service a Channel is subscribed to.  You see the Channel Name, and the Service Name but not the Guide Service.  Colours, maybe?

It's not immeadiately obvious which channel and Service you're about to link up.  Maybe you could select the channel in the left hand side, then double click in the right hand side?  If you go to merge a service to a channel that already has a service, why not just replace the service rather than having to un-merge it first?

It would be great to be able to right click a service and get a list of guide entries so you can see which is the best service for a channel.

Pressing keys on the keyboard doesn't jump to that letter in the list.  It might be useful to jump to a channel number if you press number keys while the list is sorted numerically.

I'll say again - really, really, good work.

Okay, I played with one channel to try and get more guide data.

After a guide update today, I have four channels for each channel number. :(

    Re: Announcing Guide Tool 1.0

Can anyone offer a quick tutorial on how to do a mass merge on channels? I have two listings for every channel. They are identical except listing #1 is for a STB connected via DVBLink and a HD PVR and listing #2 is for 2 CableCard tuners. I want to merge all of these together, so there is only one listing per channel, and it contains both the STB as well as the Cablecard tuners.

I have tried highlighting every channel and selecting merge tuners, then setting my tuner priority and telling it to merge based on channel number. After hitting OK it does nothing other than refresh the channel list on the left.

I have tried highlighting two channels, then clicking Merge. This has a little more effect. It does merge the channels temporarily, but does not merge them with the tuner priority I desire. As soon as I go in and change the tuner priority in the guide, it magically unmerges the channels.

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. I really dont want to have to go and merge all 344 channels manually as it takes like 3 minutes per channel through the guide to do this. I am running TV Pack if that makes a difference.

    Re: Announcing Guide Tool 1.0

Does anyone know how to get the channels to show up?  I installed and loaded the program.  I selected my lineup and I see my tuners listed across the top.  It says 666 channels and 323 services on the bottom, but no channels are listed up above.  I must just be missing something.  Thanks in advance.
