    Mark,

Sorry for not responding sooner. On Vista you can only get metadata under DVD Library, NOT Video Library. In MC7 DVD Library has been replaced with Movie Library which will contain both DVDs and stand-alone movies.

You're best bet on VMC is Media Browser.

    Do you Yammm?

I have a lot of HTPC related software "in-the-works". Some may never be completed, others will probably only be useful to a few...

Just wondering where Yamm gets it's data from - I know it must be mentioned in this forum somewhere. I recently put Max Payne (2009) in my movies folder and it has found the dvdxml but no folder.jpg or anything. It did the same thing for Conan the Barbarian, but then over time, it found it. Anyone shed some light?

    Hi mk14,

I've noticed that Yammm can sometimes take it's time downloading JPG's but don't worry it will eventually. As for where Yammm gets the information it's mentioned on the very first page
Yammm runs as a Windows Service and will download meta data, artwork, rename folders, rename files and\or create playlists. Metadata can be any combination of dvdid.xml, mymovies.xml and\or XBMC nfo file. All meta information and artwork is provided via either themoviedb.org or thetvdb.com. If you haven't checked them out please do so and contribute where possible.

    Hope it helps ;)

Can somone please help me?  I am going out of my mind trying to make this work....I know this has been covered in this post, but I still cannot get this to work. Please note, that if I run Yammm on the Media Center everything works, but I want this to run on my server.

    I have WHS running Yammm

I have movies on the WHS in the \\Opteronserver\Movies folder

I have shared the following path on my Media Center Running Windows 7
\\Mediacenter-pc\Users\MEDIACENTER\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\eHome\DvdInfoCache (I am able to access this read & write from the server)

In the library tab in Yammm I have entered the username for the media center as MEDIACENTER & obviously put in my password

In the metadata tab under the additional folders I have entered \\Mediacenter-pc\Users\MEDIACENTER\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\eHome\DvdInfoCache

as for the users I can only select Administrator as that is the only username in this list, I have tried with this ticked & unticked

basically Yammm is successfully adding the xml files into each movie folder but nothing goes into the folder \\Mediacenter-pc\Users\MEDIACENTER\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\eHome\DvdInfoCache unless I start the windows 7 movies program & then it very quickly fills up with an xml for each movie (each file begins with YAMMM) but there is still no metadata for any of the movies when I browse them on the media center.

I would REALLY REALLY appreciate some help with this please? anyone?

    Many Thanks in Advance!

Can you check one of the YAMMM xml fies to see if the metadata is in the file?

Have you checked your Event Log for errors? I'm also code-wise done w/ Yammm 1.2 but still need to finish the website and some other minor stuff before publishing. It will be this week though. The new version has some improvements that may help.

The code is done for the new version w/ TV support but I"m working on the website and DB a little.

An optional component I added was the sharing of "real" dvdids. For this I setup a DB and website. Just need to finish this before publishing, it will be this week. I'll keep everyone posted and publish the release notes tomorrow morning.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply!!!

This is the contents of one of the xml files (YAMMM000-000004F7.xml) not sure what I am looking for? I have noticed that these YAMMM files only get put in the cache directory on the media center when I go into Win7's movies application....

Looks like W7 is creating the file in DVD Cache based on the dvdid.xml file in the movie folder.

To me this means Yammm isn't writing to the remote share properly. Any errors in the Event Log? If not, I have an idea what the problem could be. Mind if I send you an modified Yammm.dlll to test with?

Run eventvwr and expand Windows Logs, Applications. Check for any errors coming from Yammm or YammmSvc.

I'll posted an update file soon.

    aha thanks for this!

this is an error I am receiving

    Error Saving DVD Cache File

    \\Mediacenter-pc\Users\MEDIACENTER\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\eHome\DvdInfoCache\YAMMM000-00001438.xml

Access to the path '\\Mediacenter-pc\Users\MEDIACENTER\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\eHome\DvdInfoCache\YAMMM000-00001438.xml' is denied.

Does this have something to do with the option on choosing which user account or custom locations etc in the Metadata tab? I only have a box with Administrator to tick in there but the user account is MEDIACENTER

Thanks again for being so quick!!!

No, I think it is a bug in this version of Yammm. I believe the remote credentials are only being applied if the remote path is also used as a watched folder for the library.

Please try the following file: http://yammm.mikinho.com/temp/yammm.dll.

Please download it to and replace the existing version. To replace the existing verison you'll need to stop the Yammm service and override the file. To do this you can either type NET STOP YammmSvc from the command prompt or from services.msc. Once the service is stopped copy the file to the install folder, usually %ProgramFiles%\Yammm. After the file has been replaced start the service again. Either using services.msc or NET START YammmSvc.

Let me know if you need more detailed instructions.
