My Channel Logos for 7MC

 

For those of you who have been waiting (and waiting and waiting) to insert channel logos into the guide, the wait is finally over. Now available is an application that pulls up your channel listings, and automatically adds logos for those listings. In just a minute, I went from a guide with all text to a guide with over 200 beautiful logos.

The package will download all appropriate logos for your region if you live in the US, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Australia or New Zealand. If you have logos to contribute, you can send me a PM here, or contact me through my website. Many logos are in full color, as well as white-washed to fit the Media Center style, and optimized for 1080p screens. You can also add logos manually from your computer. I will continue working on adding more logos over time.

 

Please feel free to post feedback; this was tested using a limited number of TV services, regions and channels. If you'd like to see a new feature or something is not functioning correctly, please tell me. If you notice an image in the logos folder that should have been added but did not, post the logo file name, as well as the channel name, call sign and affiliate.

 

My Channel Logos is for Windows 7 Media Center only, 32 and 64 bit. Vista (and the TV Pack) has special encryption which prevents me from modifying database files.

My Channel Logos V1.10

Straight up sexy! Easy to use too, found most of my channels with auto populate. Very nice work.

Just a note, I tried running this on a machine that had 7MC but no tuner setup and the app crashed without any explanation.

Other than that I'm gonna have to post this awesome-sauce on my website as soon as I can write up a short piece and get some screenshots.

No go for me, "My Channel Logo has stopped working" just as soon as I start the .exe

tried running as admin. as well.

Are you using Windows 7 or Windows Vista? If Vista, is it with or without the TV Pack?

Do you have the guide set up in MC yet?

Same error as cearly. I'm using W7 and Vista 32-bit with tv pack.

I have it successfully installed on a 7MC laptop; but, not on my computerdesk that is also 7MC. Additionally, it was a no-go on my primary VMC w/TV Pack pc.

Do you have any .NET requirements?

On the laptop where it is working--WOW, this is GREAT. Is it possible to have the app auto-resize png/jpgs that I've added? I had a BUNCH of PNGs for my local network back in my SageTV days but they appear to be too big for this app.

Thanks for the error information. I will investigate this and get back to you. Hopefully I can figure this out.

I just remembered a bug involving sizing of images that never was fixed. Although your png or jpg may be too large for the preview window, 7MC will automatically resize it in the guide. MC doesn't do a stellar job of resizing, but it gets the job done. So your larger pngs should still work fine in MC. But I'll look at resizing in the preview window.

7MC 32 bit, guide set up as well.

Great app! Works well for me. Found 195 logos automatically!

The readme mentions that it caches the logos to %systemdrive%\mychannellogos when it starts. Do you have write access to the ProgramData folder?

Go to your system drive for 7MC, and right click on ProgramData (you may have to enable viewing of hidden files: Organize>Folder and Search Options>View Tab>Show Hidden Files, folders and Drives). In Program Data, go to the security tab. Make sure the Administrators and Users have Full Control of permissions in that folder.

No luck... I have UAC disabled, logged in as an admin, & set users & administrators Full Control of the ProgramData folder.

It is very strange that it works on my laptop 7MC but not my ComputerDesk 7MC. I don't see anything installed that would conflict.

Is there a mychannellogos folder appearing in the ProgramData folder? If so, are there logos appearing in that folder?

Yes & Yes.

Side note, on the VMC/TVP machine, I also get the folder created w/logos; however, on that machine, I get no event in the eventlogs.
