OK...so I went thru the process of finding and downloading the TV Pack, with HotFixes included.  Was able to install the new driver for the HVR-2250, installed the TV Pack...but the HotFixes say "The update does not apply to your system"

I have an HP A6554F which runs Vista Home Premium....and am showing Media Center version  6.1.1000.18273.  Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance!!!

PS...I searched for the HotFixes on the MS site and was able to get KB950754 to install, but KB951585 still says it does not apply.

Sounds like you didn't do a clean install but just added the TV Pack to your existing setup. You probably had a previous update that conflicted with it.

The 2 patches still work for clean installs. I just did a clean install this morning with a Dell Vostro 200 Vista Home Premium SP1 and a 2250. I didn't run into any problems. Here's the exact order I used:

    Vista HP SP1 clean install
    Intel Chipset drivers
    ATI video card drivers
    Firefox and Antivirus
    TV Pack 2008
    PlayReadyPC runtime
    Patch KB951685
    Patch KB950754
    Windows Update(about 35 Important Updates)
    reboot
Windows Update again(2 Media Center updates and about 8 general Vista updates)
    2250 pre-beta drivers 27076
    Media Center Setup

Overall, it was pretty painless. Then again, I have done about half a dozen Win7 installs over the past 3 weeks, so I've had a lot of practice.

Did you try to download the TV pack off of the Microsoft website?  I tried that once and got the same error.  What is available on Microsoft's website is an update to an existing TV pack installation.  The TV pack update is NOT available from Microsoft except to manufacturers.  I downloaded a copy of TV pack from the link below.  I installed TV pack with no problem on two computer neither were fresh installs.  I just made sure that I uninstalled all add-ons first.

Hi Is there a thread that may possibly list known issues with the TV pack. I have a few problems with it after my install. It would be nice to know if my issues are unique or if Microsoft already know about them. So what I'm really asking is there a definitive list of known issues for the TV pack I could have a peak at?

    Thanks

I've just put the the TV pack on an 'unclean' install at it worked like a charm following the tutorial (http://digiex.net/guides-tutorials/699-windows-media-center-tv-pack-2008-download-installation-guide.html) shown above.

I was able to put it straight over the top of the old version (Version 6.0.6001.18000(longhorn_rtm.080118-1840)) which has had every MS update installed up until yesterday. All I had to do was run the TV setup again and now I've got red button support and an extra 14 channels from Freeview :) :)

Does anyone know if this works in Windows 7 or does that already contain the functionality in the TV Pack?

In my experience, Window 7 includes all the functionality of TV pack and more.

I have a Vista Premium SP1 with TV Pack 2008, etc. I did a fresh install Saturday. I use Hauppauge 2250 OTA and have 1.5TB drive.

Media Center hangs as of Wednesday such that it won't exit (have to use task manager to stop or CTRL-ALT_DELETE to just log off).  Also recordings do not stop, even if I manually stop from the system tray "Stop Current Recordings".  In fact, right now, I have 2 shows still recording since 11:35PM (last night) which should have ended by 12:35AM this morning (it is almost 6AM as I type).

I have 91 series scheduled to record.  I have 64 recordings so far.

2 weeks ago, I did a fresh install of SP1 + TV Pack and when I tried to restore the old TV shows from backup (I just copied the files to C:\Users\Public\Recorded TV) and Media center hanged after restoring few dozen shows (I don't remember the exact number but it was less than 100).

Has anyone else have this problem?  Can I only have 60 recordings (on a 1.5TB drive)?

I seem to remember this happening a few years ago with MCE 2005. IIRC it was triggered when waking up from hibernation for a recording.

Try to restart the media center receiver service. If that doesn't work, try killing the ehrec and ehrecvr processes to kill the recordings, then restart the service. And then try disabling hibernation on your PC so it doesn't happen again.

I'm running vista ultimate x64 with the tv pack 2008 installed in media center.

seems to work great and i love the OTA subchannel EPG support.

i'm wondering if anyone has a good way of removing the commercials.

pre-tvpack2008, i used lifextender which worked amazing to rip out the commercials, but no .wtv support in lifextender, so that's out.

i found MCEBuddy, and the v2.0beta is supposed to be able to rip commercials from .wtv files, but the current beta release only supports x32. the next release looks great and is supposed to preserve metadata, work on x64, and generally rock, but no date on when that will be released...

i tried the DVRMStoolbox using the guide found here: http://www.hack7mc.com/2009/02/remov...wtv-files.html to convert the wtv files to dvr-ms, and then strip the commercials with lifextender, but for some reason i coudn't ever get DVRMStoolbox to work. and i'm wondering if that is a window 7 only solution. maybe i'm just doing something wrong there?

does anyone have a good working solution for removing commercials on vista x64 w tv pack?
