Vengence - disabling the "MP830Storage" Portable Device in Device Manager did not remove it from the Media Center "My Pictures" or "My Videos" menu.  The Canon items remain even after a reboot.

    fdisker -

This is the correct file version - wanted to confirm KB950126 installed correctly.  Can you provide system config info?

Sure thing, Tim.  It's a home built system using the following components.

    Mainboard: Asus P5K

    Processor: Intel Q9450

    Memory: 4GB DD2-800

    Video: nVidia 9600GT

    Tuners: (2x) VistaView Saber DA-1N1-I

    OS: Vista Ultimate 32bit w/SP1

It's a two analog / two over the air tuner setup.  The printer is a Canon MP830 multifunction with a built in card reader.  I'm assuming it's the card reader that continues to show up in the My Videos and My Pictures areas.

After installing this update Media Center now will unpause when trying to minimize, maximize, or restore a window, obviously a frustrating dilemma. Removing this update resolved the issue. Anyone else seeing this?

I'm sure there must be another forum for this, but I'm new and I just needed to say to anyone from Microsoft:

My Media Player as well as Media Center has not been able to play a single DVD or MPEG file since the day I bought it a year ago. This is after hours of frustrating calls to Microsoft, who told me to call HP...more hours of calls to India...and supposedly "knowledgable" people....and downloading and trying out just about every codec out there...including the supposely "built in" one in Vista. It's funny how VLC and Cyberlink seem to be able to work just fine, but Media Center gives errors like this:

"Windows Media Center cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card."

And then to make matters worse...my Media Center stopped working completely the day I installed the June 2008 Cumulative Update. Of course it never worked anyway, so I don't miss it. But it would be nice if it did.

If anyone else has had this problem, I'd be interested to hear what you did.

Thanks fdisker.  We've not seen this in our testing, but I will ask if test can confirm with MP830.

    Hi sinX80 -

We are investigating reports of this behavior.  If we confirm its a regression introduced with KB950126, we will target addressing this in the next Media Center Cumulative Update.

I also have the same issue: Media Center un-pauses videos when minimizing, maximizing or restoring a window

I'm having the same issue as well.  If I pause, minimize, and then restore or maximize the window, the file resumes playing.

    Hi Tim,

I have the exact same problem with my Canon MP780 even after installing the latest cumulative update. (This printer model doesn't even have a card reader)....

Same (unpausing) issue confirmed for me on Vista Ultimate (32-bit). Screensaver kicking in also causes playback to resume (actually, even from stop rather than pause) which is extremely annoying if you've left a video half way through, intending to return to it later...

Removing the update and rebooting has returned things to a state I can live with.

Tim I am seeing the same thing (Screensaver kicking in).

Do you want me to bug this on Connect or is that not necessary?

Am I doing somethign wrong, as every time I have tried to install the latest Vista Media Center cumulative  update, the installer tells me this version is not compatible with your system, or something similar.. I am running Vista 32bit, SP1

    Thanks!

I have the same problem with the screensaver unpausing video plus an additional problem that showed up with this update: the majority of time when I stop playing a recorded TV show, I simply get a black screen instead of returning to the page that says "resume, restart, delete, etc.".  I have to press the back button after stopping the video to get to that screen.  I'll definitely be uninstalling it, as it didn't fix any problems I was having anyway.

Re: Cumulative Update for Media Center for Windows Vista (KB950126) is now available

I found that by installing this update I encountered a number of playback issues such as videos automatically restarting and pausing for long periods of time would result in the video starting over (when using the pause button to resume, not the play button). After uninstalling this update my problems seemed to have disappeared.
