Linksys DMA2100 freezes after 20 minutes of watching any WMV-HD/VC-1 movie.
I've double checked the media server & extender's screensavers already as well (all are disabled). Once it freezes I have to reboot the extender after a full power cycle. Its not an isolated issue since I have this issue with four different units. It doesn't seem to be an overheating issue either. My Xbox 360 works fine. Linksys doesn't know, and asked me to disable UpNp on my WCG200 gateway, but firmware (1.1.2.9.4-1104) doesn't have a UpNp option. I also have an unmanaged Netgear GS116 switch but I cannot see how that could cause the issue either.. Can someone please assist me? I'm ready to return the extenders and buy a few Xbox Arcades at this point (loud fan noise & all)... Anyone's assistance would be greatly appreciated...

Can you give more inforamtion about your WMV-HD clips? Like bitrate, etc. I have several HD DVD and Blu-Rays that I have re-encoded to WMV-HD and have not had any real issues with playback on my Linksys.
However, I had tried some previous clips at 20Mbps that played fine on my Xbox but were too much for my Linksys. Now I encode all my content at 1080p, 12Mbps and they play fine.

5000kbps, 384kbps, 23fps, 1260x720, and created w/Encode360. All +250 of my movies are encoded the same way.

When the video freezes, can you hit the Linksys Menu button on the remote and have it return to the main screen? Can you ping the DMA2100 from a PC on the network once it freezes?
Also, is the DMA2100 connected wired or wirelessly to the WCG200?

Yes, but only if I do it in the first minute.

Ok, so you are definitely not pushing the machine as far as the specs of your encoded video. Do you have the same issue on your 360?
The only thing that I can imagine is that you are encoding your videos with some setting that the DMA does not like.
Have you tried encoding the video directly with Windows Media Encoder? You may try that and see if you still have the issue. I cannot see any other reason.

The Xbox 360 plays all the videos just fine. Yes (I've used WME), but keep in mind that Encode360 uses WME as well. I only use Encode360 due to batching. I cannot think of any reason why I'm having this issue either...

Hmm, the only other thing I can think to do is to post one of these videos somewhere that we can download it and try to play it.

Let me know where I can post/upload my smallest movie (V for Vendetta which is 2.67GB), and I will!

The only thing I can tell you is to maybe encode a file in both Encode360 and WME using the same settings. I have over 200 movies encoded in WMV and have no issues playing them on my 2100. But I only use WME to encode them.

Re: Linksys DMA2100 freezes after 20 minutes of watching any WMV-HD/VC-1 movies.
No dice! Are all of your files in 5.1 audio (mine are)? I'm going to send Linksys a few copies to research on their end hopefully they can replicate the issue. If so, maybe they'll fix or apply a patch via firmware. Worst case they'll tell me that I shouldn't be converting the HD movies that I own to stream on my home network (and call it a day; case closed).
I purchased another Xbox 360 Arcade for $200 (sweet deal on eBay) to use in one of the my spare rooms with a large TV for the time interim. I'm currently using my Elite in my living room. It’s actually pretty quiet since I have it placed vertically w/no components around it. If Linksys assists me in fixing this issue w/out having to re-encode all my HDTV movies I'll buy 2-3 more DMA2100s, but if not it looks like Xbox 360 Arcades & noise.
Depending on what the end results are I will have to adjust my product/solution(s) offering to my growing cliental…

Re: Linksys DMA2100 freezes after 20 minutes of watching any WMV-HD/VC-1 movie.
I had a somewhat similiar problem where the extender and my HTPC would freeze up after about 20 minutes of recorded tv. The only way to fix it was to hard reboot.
Fixed it by upgrading/reinstalling the driver for my network card on the HTPC. Got the idea from another thread on this site.
Might be worth a try.

Maybe it is due to the fact that my audio codec is WMA3...
