Media Center Extender & Netflix & Windows Media Player

    Hi all,

I'm new here and I'm trying to resolve an issue:

I have a Netflix account and want to use the 'Watch Now' feature via the Media Extender.

I installed MCE Browser & Transcoder 360 but it hangs when I get to the actual Netflix Player.  It looks as if it is attempting to play (the Play and Pause button alternate randomly) but it always ends with an error telling me that I am missing a codec.  I don't know if this is related to Windows Media Player since it asked me to update my Player when I installed the Netflix software on my Desktop PC.  I assume the Extender doesn't have Media Player support and that is why I can't get it to work....but I'm not a computer whiz so what do I know!

    Any help would be appreciated.....

BTW, could the MCE 2005 Rollup 2 be my solution?

    Thanx in advance!

Just so it's clear, are you running MCE 2005?  I assume so since you're talking about the rollup....

You better have rollup 2 installed, regardless :P.

That part of Netflix won't work over extenders, unfortunately :(. Maybe nobody has figured it out, I don't know.

Honestly, I'm not sure.... I did not know there were different versions until today.  I purchased my PC in early 2005 so I assume it is MCE 2004.

If it is MCE 2004, can't I  upgarde to MCE 2005?  I read another thread where someone upgraded their 2004 to 2005 w/ rollup 2.  Hopefully this won't be an issue.

Also, I have a wireless connection (Netgear MIMO router) and wondered if hardwiring the PC and Extender together might get this to work.

    Thanx!

    •    Do you know of a Windows Media Player plugin?

There are none, it just won't work. It has to do with the way the extenders work.

Get our hopes up for something that doesn't work with MCE2005? Wrong forum.

This Netflix plugin should work in MCE 2005 http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/238353.aspx

So far I have been able to get Netflix Watch Now to only work on the computer and not the Extender. Th dude working on MyNetflix is working on this. So far I do not know why Netflix is not working on this them selves. I am thinking about dropping Netflix and going with Vongo now. Vongo has the same price and just as many movies...And Vongo can be used on a TV.

     He took his downloads down.

Does anyone still have this and if so, does it work still on MCE2005? I'm hoping since MS integrating Netflix themselves, maybe someone could be a hero and go back and get it working on MCE2005.
