RE: Getting MCE2005 to recognise .ogm and other video file formats

    Hi

I still can't see subtitles. I've installed Matroska Pack (including ffdshow), and it does not matter if i load embedded fonts or activate subtitles in ffdshow. Media Player Classic and Windows Media Player both show the subtitles, but MCE does not.

    I have no clue...

    Any idea?

    thanks&bye

i also have the same problem. is there a key that you can press to switch audio and subs? also i have a problem, my screen goes on and off everytime i open a folder where i have mkv and ogm files, i think it is because it is getting thumbnails. is this normal or is there a fix for this. also i was wondering, off the subject, if there was a way to use zoom player instead of wmp, cause i really dont think that wmp can make full use of ogm and mkv. thanks and sorry for all the questions, i just got mce a while ago with my new comp, so im relatively new to this

Heres how you get all video and audio formats working in media center.
    1.) Dowload the k lite pack 150.
2.) Uninstall all other codecs you have except for quicktime if you have it. (If you don't have quicktime install it before you install the codec pack)
3.) Install the k lite pack (it will ask you if you want to uninstall quicktime. Do not uninstall it choose no.)
4.) While installing the pack take off the media player classic option and bsplayer if selected.
5.) Select all codecs and when it asks you for the ogm and mkv splitter choose the oggds media splitter
6.) After you select all the codecs and the proper splitter go to the next page were you have the options to associate extensions with media player. Select all of them and then finish the install.
7.) restart your computer for good measure.
8.) Getting subtitles to work with ogm and mkv files and mce(this only works for single audio track ogm and mkv files)
a.) play one of the ogm or mkv files
b.) right click on the green arrow in the system tray and select the oggds option
c.) then select play all streams in the oggds setting.
9.) And your done. mp4 mov avi, ect will now be recognized by mce and play.

err I have a question about this to, I cant seem to get the audio default to stay on english, it keeps reseting to the japanese audio in media center. But everywhere else it stays on english i.e zoom player and media classic.

    Jaymz

Thanks loads for that reg editing script, sorted my mp4 problem out perfectly, WMP would play mp4 files, but they wouldnt show in MCE nor would they be associated with WMP

So do these registry settings also work for Vista? I am really frustrated because I dont know what is the best setup for file playback in Vista media center. Do I install cccp? ffdshow? powerdvd? ac3filter? I have divx, ts files, mkv files, etc and I want all of them to show up and play in media center. So what is the exact process for installing software and do I need to add registry setting for proper playback and file association?

Doesn't work for Media Center Edition 2005 but in Vista you can use this:

I guess once the issues with Vista's MCE is settled I might have to move over.
