I found this thread from having the same problem trying to record Medium last night.  I could swear that the CGMS-A flag continued for several minutes during the beginning of Medium.  I was eventually able to record most of it.


During my research, I think I may have found out why Microsoft is having problems "legally" completely ignoring this.
"DVD players and recorders that choose to license CSS (in order to play back mass-market movies) also must support Macrovision ACP and CGMS-A analog protection, HDCP for DVI or HDMI digital outputs, and DTCP for IEEE 1394 and USB digital connections. These support requirements also apply to computer DVD drives and burners, and analog and digital computer TV outputs."

This is controlled by "DVD Copy Control Association" which provides the license to decode DVD movies.   They would not be able to play movies without agreeing to all the license terms.  And so, I presume, any changes would require agreement from DVD Copy Control Association. This is not contry related.
(I apologize if this was covered before in this thread).  I have only read 2/3rds of the 45 pages.

I  successfully recorded Medium OTA in Chicago.

I wouldn't call it the beginning of the end.. hopefully just NBC screwing around in the control room.  We'll see how primetime tonight goes.

Seems like it just affected us Media Center users.
I haven't seen any mention of this on Tivo or Sage forums.

Same problem on the west coast LA using off air HD "Medium was not recorded.  Recording of this content is prohibited by the content provider."

 

I had the same problem last night with Medium. I also think I had the same problem last Friday attempting to record Battlestar Galactica. I wasn't around, so I can't confirm it - but the 11:00 PM showing didn't record for some reason.

I have Comcast for our Digital Cable provider. Is there a pattern with anyone else?

 

I also have Comcast.  Per above, I did  have the problem with Medium, but BG recorded fine at 11PM on Friday.  (The SciFi Channel in Houston is not HD.  Is yours?)

You can view the reason by checking the History.

Go to your Scheduled recordings and check the "History" icon.

Yep. We just got SCIFI HD on May 1, and it would have been the second episode for BSG to record in HD. I hope Comcast isn't screwing around with the broadcast flags.

I didn't have any problems with BSG on SciFi HD last Friday and I have Comcast.

For those of you who experienced this issue last night, can you post here who your cable provider is? Without spilling the beans, this issue is getting the necessary attention and this information would be helpful in order to determine the root cause.

Comcast: both CableCard and HDHomerun.  Happened on American Gladiators; didn't try Medium.
