RE: DVRMSToolbox: Automated Commercial Detection, Skipping, and much more.

Oooooo babqVant in full effect!  Time to unpimp z DVRMS.  No trebouchet handy tho sorry.

That seems to have done it!  It has converted my mini test file.  I am about to throw a bigger file at it with commercial to see if it can detect, splice, and convert.

I just did a "repair" on DVR 2 WMV.  Last time with version .5 i just got lucky that I had installed it previously i guess! hehe..  Always better to be lucky than good

    Thanks!

Doh did you need me to verfy that some how?  dont know where i would look.

I have already reinstalled DVR to WMV. We probably missed the chance.

RE: DVRMSToolbox: Automated Commercial Detection, Skipping, and much more.

Okay repairing DVR 2 WMV did the trick!  It works.  Many many thank yous!

My next question:  Must we always have the FileWatcherService running at all times?  I have no interest in using the auto skip while I watch.  I just want the splice and convert features to work.  If it is not absolutely necessary to be running at all times then how should it be deactivated?

I try to reduce as many services and programs at startup as possible.  Seems like everything wants to have a program running these days, so I try to eliminate ones I am not in need of.

    Thanks! for the help!

if you don't want it, you can choose to not install it... uncheck the box that lists it as an optional component in the second options page of the installer.

if it's installed, you can disable it by going to the services mmc (start -> control panel -> administrative tools -> services) double click on the dvrmsfilewatcher service, stop it and set the startup type to manual or disabled.

don't worry about it... figuring out the root cause would take more time than I want to invest in a problem that is fixed so easily.

Okay great, I disabled the service.  Thought I should ask first. I was not 100% sure if the component was a dependancy for something else I did not expect.

    Thanks again!

Glad to see there are others who dont sleep

RE: DVRMSToolbox: Automated Commercial Detection, Skipping, and much more.

It's not that it doesnt find the files (that I know for sure because when its not finding the xml-file it prompt for making one). It rather seems to be an issue with reading the xml-file.

It doesn't say much in the event log, doesn't say anything about the plugin starting up (the "write events" checkbox is checked).

    Found two error-events though:

    Hndelsetyp: Fel (error)
    Hndelsens klla: CommercialSkipAddIn
    Hndelsekategori: Ingen (none)

Yes, I want the commercial skip addin to look for xml-files on a UNC-path. i.e: \\server\xmls Is that possible?

RE: DVRMSToolbox: Automated Commercial Detection, Skipping, and much more.

I've discovered that even if you put msvcr7d.dll in the DVRMS Toolbox directory, dvr2wmv.dll dies with a "Can't find file" error.

    I think there's a bug in dvr2wmv that doesn't like long paths for the msvcr71d.dll and "c:\program files\dvrms toolbox\" is too long.

can you try altering one of the commercials files, switch in a , for the . in all of the start and end times for the commercials.

then try to watch that show.

Great. The install seems to be working now. I'll report any other XP-specific hiccups if I find them.

RE: DVRMSToolbox: Automated Commercial Detection, Skipping, and much more.

nope. That only resulted in a message like "The graph could not be read, please restart media center or media extender". But now suddenly autoskip worked, once, but when watching the same show again it didn't work.

sometimes the adon refuses to response, the up/down arrows on the remote doesn't activate/turn off the autoskip feature.

btw: anything new about how to let the adon to look for xmls in a UNC-path?

alright, found my error. figured i might as well update in case someone else has the same problem. All you have to do is fill in the path for the dvrmstompeg.exe in the filewatcher tab of the settings. Preveiously it has dvrmstompeg.exe, but you need the whole command, C:\prog files\blah blah
