    Hello,

    I have been trying this method on my MCE2k5 but im still getting the codec error while in MCE. It works fine playing in wmp, and I can see the file while in MCE, but it just doesn't play. Do you think another codec pack is interfering with the karaokedx? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

    Karaoke-DX  does not install/work on Vista?

    Oh yes, it does, beautifully.  I followed the instruction on your first post, got it to work on WMP.  Actually, I just right clicked on the file (open with) and chose "always open with...WMP".  But it wasn't opening as a video file in Vista Media Center.

    Then I did this, as you said in a later post:

    Maybe the registry entry is not correct? Open NOTEPAD and put the following 3 lines into a file called karaoke.reg, then double-click the filename:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.cdg]
    "PerceivedType"="video"

    And voila...

    Many thanks.  Sadly, I havent figure it out how to search for music, etc.  Ideally, I'd like a program to download images from the internet...

    I tried version 2.2 and 3.0b. They all crash MCE XP interface on my machine as well (I feel it has something to do with thumbnails extraction), but they work fine with Windows Media Player.  There is also a next version called Troubadour Karaoke Lite Home Edition, but it doesn't install the exe file properly, and there is no uninstaller so I would recommend to back up your system before you try that.
