RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv
OK, gave this a shot last night 'cos the missus has been bugging me to give some of our recorded TV shows to my mother-in-law All worked fine until I went to play the resulting MPEG file. It came up with something like "MCE has encountered an unknown error". I tried playing the file from WMP10 and it worked - sort of. The file had the little red exclamation mark which popped up with the message "WMP10 was unable to download the required codec". Strange thing is that is says it cannot playback the file, but it did. Clearly, something about the codecs isn't wokring properly which is why MCE thinks it can't play it. I just have no idea how to find out what codec is missing, or why it's "missing" and yet it actually does play in WMP10, but not in MCE. Any help would be appreciated.

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv
I used DVR2WMV for the wmv conversion, so the same rules apply for converting... I haven't tried any PAL files (I'm in the US) but from what I understand, compatability mode is only for NTSC files, PAL and ATSC file should not have this checked. Also pretty sure that you need to use a different prx file for the different source encoding types... i.e. (cbr/vbr)NTSC.prx for NTSC files, (cbr/vbr)PAL.prx for PAL, and (cbr/vbr)ATSC.prx for ATSC files (although I didn't include the ATSC profiles). One of the things I'd like to do is to set compatability mode off based on the meta data of the dvrms file, there's an item for ATSC, but I haven't been able to locate one for NTSC/PAL (unless it's the DTV item). I really wish MS would document the meta tags in the DVRMS format, would make a lot of this much easier...

my bad... forgot to make the dvr2wmv.dll register itself in the install... open a cmd window and go to the directory that you installed the tool to and type "regsvr32 dvr2wmv.dll" w/o quotes...

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv
I tried disabling compatibility mode and also setting the prx file to cbrPAL.prx. Sadly, I'm getting the same result. However, I'm beginning to question whether it is random or not. When I re-ran the batch job on the same set of files I noticed that it seems to be giving up (at the 10k mark) on the same set of files. It'll probably take some more testing to verify this.... but I'm not sure what could be causing it to fail on a job, and then continue to the next file. Time to reinstall DVRMSToolbox? I think I was getting more consistent results when I first started using the tool and I was running the "Cut out commercials, convert to WMV" profile... but I'm not sure why.

if it fails to process a file it's designed to move on... can you covert the file using dvr2wmv?

Arkay, Try downloading and installing the DVR2WMV program, that should do the trick. Randy

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv
It looks like my version of DVR2WMV was throwing an error. I've attached it for reference, but I have since uninstalled that version and installed the one from the greenbutton download area. DVR2WMV is currently processing one of the troublesome files, and is well beyond the 10k mark.... I suspect an older version of DVR2WMV was the root cause of what I was seeing. Thank you for the assistance!

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv
I am interested in extracting the audio from a dvr-ms file, so that I can listed to it on my Pocket PC. I would need to convert dvr-ms to mp3 or wma. I wondered if anyone had built a plug-in for this purpose? I can do the conversion in graphedit, but would have no idea how to add this to the Toolbox. Thanks for any help, Martin

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv
can you post a screenshot of the graph you use, attaching an xml version would be great too. assuming that the filters are on everyone's machine (I would think converting to wma would be), I can write an action to do this and include it in the next rev.

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv
sorry to be dense, but does the latest version now handle ATSC files, or just the video portion of the ATSC? If not, any idea of when that would be included? Thanks - great product already

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv
it supports ATSC files for some purposes... I found out that the muxer (the program that joins the audio and video into an mpeg) that is used, crashes when trying to join the audio portion of an ATSC file. Since comskip ignores the audio anyway, using the new action to dump the seperate stream you can get the commercial detection. Or because you now have the raw streams, it is possible to use a seperate program or process to mux the streams into a mpeg file.
