Re: Application to help sync your WMP and iTunes libraries

    u2jrmw:

If you try 1.6.1 which is still available on downloads.com does it behave the same way?

Are you sure that WMP is looking at the same files that iTunes is, WMP doesn't have a copy or anything?

Downgraded to 1.6.1, log looks about the same, same effect. If I open WMP and browse to a file in the library, and ask it to open containing folder, it's in the iTunes Music folder ...

Ah, but although it's the same physical file, WMP sees it as being in the current user's folder whereas iTunes sees it as being in the All Users folder. I wonder if I can fix that.

Yes that will be a problem. Search this thread there may be a solution here. But MusicBridge must get matching paths from both apps.

Re: Application to help sync your WMP and iTunes libraries

I am finding that MusicBridge will fail to convert ANY iTunes data to WMP for WMP 10 after a rollback from WMP 11.  I know that WMP 11 is currently unsupported but I am kicking myself for ever installing that darned thing.  I have been trying for 2 days to get something out of MusicBridge into WMP 10.  Like others, I did originally have partial success getting data into WMP 11, but it fails after about 1000 songs.  Hoping that WMP 11 support is in the near future!

Just a note to say I am planning a Vista/WMP11 release of MusicBridge. I intend to do a full rewrite for 2.0

There is also a new website for MusicBridge @ http://jrmwillis.googlepages.com

I hope to see you there.

Jeff, this is great news!  You should create a mailling list feature on your website so we can all stay up to date with the project instead of just monitoring this forum topic.

If you go to the website you will see there is a dedicated group and a development blog.

Re: Application to help sync your WMP and iTunes libraries

Can I somehow transfer iTunes data to WMP11 on one machine, then export ALL that data to be copied to another machine?

Basically, I'd like to tranfser all my iTunes data (cover artwork, ratings, etc) from my Windows XP machine to my Vista HTPC machine.

The MP3s are stored on a network attached storage (NAS) device so the file locations will not change during the transfer...

Re: Application to help sync your WMP and iTunes libraries

I downloaded Musicbridge 2.0 day before yesterday. Unforntuatly My Vista machine began to crash after using Musicbridge. Befroe the crash I was able to transfer my album art and ratings from iTunes tp WMP11. I uninstalled MB and the machine hasn't crashed since.

Here's the real problem. In media center on my main machine all the album art is there and the files play fine. The problem is on my Xbox360 as an extender. When I look at music on this machine the album art is not there and when I try to play  a file the Xbox locks up. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Application to help sync your WMP and iTunes libraries

I've seen this happen with videos. Make sure the Mcx1 user has permisison to read/write the files. One good way to do this is to delete and reinstall the extender. This should reset permissions.

If you can't see the fnord, it can't eat you.

Re: Application to help sync your WMP and iTunes libraries

By no action of my own it has fixed itself. Most of the files now appear with proper album art and play fine. Somehow??? There is a album folder that contains all of the problematic files. I'll deal with them later. For now 99% of my music files are working. Now if I could just conquer the video side.
