Official NDA Disclosures - Get Them Here

    Okay, CEDIA 2008 is over:

Jeff, Chris, Charlie, Ben, etc. (Anyone previously bound by an NDA prior to CEDIA 2008)

Please use this thread to disclose details previously withheld from TGB community.

Let's work together to clear up the rumors and speculation that has ensued since the Windows Media Center TV Pack 2008 (FIJI) "release" in July.

It is my hope that an open dialog of information and facts will offer our community a better understanding of Microsoft's roadmap for Vista Media Center.

Yep, NDAs suck.  After CEDIA I will have a lot more from every angle possible.

    Yep, the line should be

"This was a completely borked project, and was released with many bugs including some that should have stopped the release until fixed. So even though the NDA period has expired we won't talk to you about it.

    Goodnight and good luck"

In any event, it's fairly well known what the product is and what it does.

Unfortunately, it's forked support for VMC into two fragments. Those who have TV Pack and those that don't. So whenever someone wants to ask a question, the first response will invariably be "Do you have TV Pack installed?".

Any chance of any answers to the questions that people have asked, like

WHERE IS HD SUPPORT FOR EUROPE????
    WILL IT EVER COME??

Only problem with that is 99% of stuff has already been said.  What is released is there, what is not in the TV Pack isn't.  Everything else is still on the table, but as we all found out not everything on the table makes it into the final release.

No one is going to be able to answer questions about upcoming releases.  The real question was what questions do people have about the TV Pack.

Re: Official NDA Disclosures - Get Them Here

I have to agree with the others, Chris.  I exepected "the big announcement" at CEDIA to inlcude some explanation of what the hell happened with DirecTV and the HDPC-20.  Was it ever Beta tested? Is it dead or delayed?  Is it still in Beta test?  Will there be a release once Beta testing is complete?  Will that be seperate from and hopefully before the 2010+ release of Windows 7?

I know a lot of you will reply saying "no DirecTV until Windows 7," but understand that means nothing to me.  I want to hear something from Microsoft on the status of this product.  It serves them and DirecTV not at all to remain silent on it.  Where's the new TGB and open communication that we were all promised when Microsoft bought this board?

Well said.  To me, that's the killer.

I know I told everyone not to expect a complete open access pass to Microsoft.  It just isn't going to happen.  Product annoucements almost ever include information about what didn't make it.  Not sure why they would save that information for their big coming out party.

I'll try and get some of the information you are looking for, but I don't know why people expected this stuff as a part of CEDIA.

Chris: :"I know I told everyone not to expect a complete open access pass to Microsoft."

You may have said that, but Jeff Tucker was saying that the purchase was going to make communication better and more open.  That's what I am looking for.

Chirs: "I don't know why people expected this stuff as a part of CEDIA."

I did not expect it to be "part of CEDIA."  However, we were told to "relax," "be patient," and that all our questions would be answered around the first of September in coincidence with announcments that would be made at CEDIA.  CEDIA is gone, the announcements are made, and I, for one, have not had my question answered.  Plus, I can't believe I am the only person wondering about DirecTV support and the HDPC-20.

I just want to know if the product was beta tested, does beta testing continue, is there a pre-Windows 7 release intended, or is the whole thing dead.  And from someone official.  Is that too much to ask?

Re: Official NDA Disclosures - Get Them Here

How about someone explaining about  - when people started to get their hands on the TV Pack, and people started to install it, there were many "In the know" - but NDA'd people filling the threads with, statements like "install it at your own risk, but you'll mess up your machine -but I can't say why because I have a NDA".

I hate that type of $#!T.  So what grave danger is everyone who installed the TV Pack in?

That's some of the stuff I want to cover, but I doubt you will find anyone from Microsoft telling you directly.
