Just a quick note to mention that I use this app every day without any problems.  I regularly check back to this forum to see if any updates have been made.  x10 commander works well for me, so I'm not suggesting that an update is needed, but I look forward to using one if it appears.  Thanks.

Re: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

Well hello everyone!  I hope you haven't completely given up on me.  I know I've been non-responsive for far too long.  My sincere apologies.

Well the good news is that v1.3.1 is FINALLY available.  Please see the original post for details.  I believe I have incorporated all the outstanding requests, bugs fixes, etc.  The biggest new feature is triple-tap (cellphone style) support.

Please let me know (as always) what you like, don't like, questions, etc.  And thank you SO MUCH for your patience.  Again I'm sorry it took so long to get this version out there.  Maybe some enterprising developer out there is interested in helping with support?  >_<

    Thanks,

    OCP

p.s. Now to answer the backlog of posts... [Edit] Whew caught up finally..lol

FYI - I added this information into the ReadMe.htm for v1.3.1.  Thanks for the great tip Jim!

Re: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

    Hiya Dan.

I've included all the latest working application config files that I have with v1.3.1.  I was messing with Google Maps and a few others, but they weren't 100% functional so I left them off.  If anyone else has a working XML file, feel free to post it or send it to me and I can include it in the distribution.

    >>My question is this.  I know you've stated that your test rig has trouble coming out of standby, but you might still have some insite.  If I wake up my system with a ping over the network, everything works fine.

MCE handles recording with a Windows Service that runs completely independent of the MCE application.  So waking up to record wouldn't actually launch MCE itself.  Instead you probably have MCE set to launch on start.

    >>If it wakes up on its own to record a show, I don't get a display unless I physically move the mouse on the system.  It's almost like the system isn't awake, but it is...its recording.  Touch the mouse (or keyboard) and suddenly everything works.

Are you using a blank screen saver?

Re: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

    pierret:

I've been trying to run this program but nothing works for me.  When I launch it I get an X10Commander Error dialog that says:

Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {001000AF-2DEF-0208-10B6-DC5BA692C858| failed due to the following error:80040154.

    Stack trace:  at X10Commander.frmMain..ctor()

    >>>It sounds like the ahscript.dll is not properly registered.  The .MSI registers this DLL automatically.  I'd suggest uninstalling X10Commander, and removing all references to ahscript.dll from the registry (using RegEdit).  Also remove any ATI RW, Active Home SDK and X10 driver software, and the C:\Program Files\Common Files\X10 and C:\Program Files\X10Hardware folders.  Then install either the Active Home SDK or the X10 drivers (see the ReadMe.htm for details on this).  Lastly, check that your X10 Network Device service is running.

Click OK and the X10Commander window comes up and everything seems to work fine but...  Check the Log messages and nothing happens.  When I run ActiveHome CView next to it and press buttons on the remote things do happen on the CView program but nothing on the X10Commander.

    >>>Because the AHScript.dll doesn't seem to be installed correctly, nothing would be sent to X10Commander.

I tried to register ahscript.dll through regsvr32 but that gives me an error as well: (the module "ahscript.dll" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80070005)

    >>>Most likely because the DLL is corrupt or already installed.

I'm running Vista x64 build 6000 with RW Plus.  I've also installed the AHSDK from x10.com and also tried the x64 driver version but I get the same thing.

    >>>Try the above steps to re-install.

I'm also trying to trace the source in VS2005 but it complains about a missing reference MediaState.

    >>>Sorry I had a reference to a MCE assembly.  The latest source for v1.3.1 should work for you know.  You will see in frmMain.cs where the ActiveHome events are trapped.

Re: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

I can also confirm that this application is not working in Vista x64 unless I am doing something horribly wrong. This is the error:

Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {001000AF-2DEF-0208-10B6-DC5BA692C858| failed due to the following error:80040154.

    Stack trace:  at X10Commander.frmMain..ctor()

I can run RWKeyMaster and it works perfectly. The X10 service is working just fine. Just X10Commander 1.3.1 seems to throw this error at startup.

    Any suggestions?

Re: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

I finally fixed the problem in the source. You MUST compile this as a 32-bit application is VS2005 (not Any CPU) as Windows x64 cannot load 32-bit dll's (aka ahscript.dll) when X10Commander.exe is running in 64-bit mode.

These are the compiled files you need to make it all work (version 1.3.1)...

Let me know how it goes. Hopefully the installer will be updated soon.

Re: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

Thank for this wonderful tool. I finally make it work on both MCE05 and vista.

One interesting thing on mce05 is that X10 was not install by ATIRW since I could not find any service of X10 and no folder X10 created in Program Files\Common Files. What happened was probably I installed TweakMCE first and enabled universal remote control which might install X10. So ATIRW did not bother to install X10 service later on. However I have to remove p2 address to make my  RW+ work.

Since TweakMCE is not compatible on vista, ATIRW installs X10 though I have to remove p2 as well.

The only problem I found so far is that text entering in My Movies is not working. Only the first letter can be entered in xp. On vista letter may jump back at beginning. Entering text in Music or others seem working fine.

Re: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

    Hey

Thnx for a great tool. It’s helped me replace ShowShifter (Ick! [+o(]yukk) that came with my UR86EL remote.

I needed to remove the "p2" address as well as my remote's address is erratic (I13 for some button like volume and channel, J8 for pc button for instance). Does anyone know why it's doing this and will I be able to change this address?

I need to know this before I buy another remote for my second MCE

Re: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

    Hi thereisnospoon,

thanks for the application. I have just delved into MCE 2005 this last month and have an ATI RW (1st one) and realised the other night that the text doesnt work and i was using the mouse right click to go back but it was double backing so I had to do one step forward then press it to get 2 steps back to get one back if you catch my drift.

Anyway, I installed your app last night and the text works great but I seem to have a problem with the specific application commands. The global ones all work fine - but things like play and pause, FFW and RWD etc do not work. The message log shows the program recieving the message but then doesnt show a command or act on it. I am running 3.04 ATI drivers (set to not start) and then installed your program after them.

I have also noticed it uses quite a lot of memory - i was using between 12 and 17 meg today and it was a bit slow to respond so I changed it's priority to above normal which helped.

Any ideas as to why the MCE/media player commands are not being sent? Have I missed something silly (just to add they are enabled - I only have global, media player, MCE and firefox enabled). Cheers
