I am running MCE on Windows Vista. I have updated my codecs in MCE to play AVI and Mpeg files. I am able to  play them on my PC through Media center without a problem. But when I access the same video file using my Linkysy DMA2100 Extender I get a error message 'Cannot Play File"

Yeah - wrong forum - it should be in the Vista - Extenders forum....Mods - can you move this to the correct forum?.

The short answer is that only certain codecs can be played on the extender. 

The longer answer should be asked to Microsoft members that read this forum.  I too would like to know if we can get more codec support for the extenders.  I have a bunch of .mov files that I would like to play without having to go through the process of converting them.  Plus there is always going to be new codecs that come out - afterall things change.

It seems to be the biggest issue with extenders.....So how about it Microsoft - can we get more codec support for the extenders, or at least get the ability to add out own codecs to them?

I am sure many people would be very appreciative of this.
