I just don't understand this.  Hulu.com exists because they want people to watch stuff.  They make money on advertising, so more viewers is better.

Why put roadblocks to access, then?  For that matter, why don't they provide an official plugin for Media Center to increase adoption (I will never watch hulu.com, I've been waiting for this for MC), and maintain control.

I agree, I'm no longer excited about Hulu, how we watch it shouldn't matter, as long as we're watching.

Does anybody have an email address for Hulu? I'm thinking if maybe we bombard them with request for a Media Center enviroment or complain about taking down myMediaPlayer, maybe we can change their minds. I know I doubt it too. But at the least we can all tell them what we want in mass and maybe they can realize the potential revenue stream.

That's a good idea, I'll see what I can come up with

I'm sure it has to do with licensing.  The license for the content on the site most likely stipulates it is being watched on a computer only environment - this is just my guess, but I would imagine they don't have the proper license to produce the content in a "television" environment.  Possibly someone in the know could chime in and correct or be more specific.

Re: Hulu.com aPlugin Project has taken a step back

The most likely response from Hulu will be what I received a few months ago.

"We recognize the importance of MediaCenter and are looking into making integration a reality."

    Which means.. nothing.

As I stated in my email to Hulu... great service, but I use MC and I can watch Netflix and there's enough content there to satisfy my hunger.  There's a lot of content on Hulu, but quite frankly if they can't make it usable for me then they are not going to get my time.

If you're all done overreacting, you'll notice that it's working again...

Did anyone consider that maybe Hulu really was performing maintenance on the site, and it was just an accident?

Also, I like the MyMediaPlayer program that Paul wrote, but without a full-screen option it's pretty well useless. The video list takes up half the screen, and the player doesn't even scale to fill the rest.

Full screen, remote and keyboard use will be added, the app is currently being worked on with VMC embedded version.

    I'll keep you posted.

I just want to throw in my two cents....

I think hulu.com is great, and would definitely enjoy seeing a hulu plugin for VMC.

I suck at programming, but I can do anything else to make this project go forward smoothly.

    Re: Hulu.com anyone?

I used MCEBrowser 2.2 to view Hulu on my MCE2005 box. It's not a perfect way to go, but it does work...

    Re: Hulu.com anyone?

Hulu just added Widgets to their site.  I wonder if this would make the plugin any easier to write?

    Re: Hulu.com anyone?

Yeah, this would be pretty cool. I haven't really used Hulu, because I don't like watching things on the small PC screen. Between this and netflix, you'd be able to stream a lot of stuff.

Is anyone even working on something? Or are we all just hoping that someone will?
