Extender Not Found when connect to Xbox 360 with Media Center 2005

Okay, so I had my Media Center 2005 PC hooked up just fine previously to my Xbox 360. We recently moved to a neighborhood that is run fiber optic and changed providers. Each room in my house has an ethernet port in it. It appears that those ports are then run through a Trendet TE 100-S88E bridge. My pc is behind 2wire 270HG wireless router. Both appear to be otherwise functioning fine insofar as my pc has no problems with other programs and the Xbox has never had a problem with Live. It appears that the 2wire router does not recognize the 360 as being in the network. I have tried plugging the PC directly into the ethernet port to avoid the router and should have all of my firewalls configured and have also tried turning off my firewall (Windows Firewall). Any help regarding this rather galling issue is appreciated.

    T.

I am guessing that you may have wired this incorrectly.

Can you please explain your network cabling being very specific as to what device you have connected to each other device.  In the case of connections to your 2Wire router, be specific as to the name of the port you are using.

Re: Extender Not Found when connect to Xbox 360 with Media Center 2005

I searched the forums a great deal before I posted this. I could not find anything that fixed the problem I was having. So, tried the fixes above with no luck. Wiring is a good guess. Honestly, I am not really sure how all of the wiring works. You see, my house was 'pre-wired' for internet and the community is pre-wired for fiberoptics. So, from where I'm looking at it, it appears that there is the Trendnet switch which has the master fiber optic cable run to it. The switch is then run directly to the ethernet ports in the walls of the various rooms of my house. My MCE PC is in a room upstairs. The 2wire router is plugged directly into the wall and the computer is then plugged into port 1 on the router. My 360 is then plugged directly into the ethernet port in the wall downstairs. My guess is that this has something to do with my inability to network these devices together correctly (my inability, not the impossibility) so that they are communicating. I'll keep poking at it, but additional suggestions are always appreciated.

Here's a basic layout for you...

On the 2Wire Router, there are likely 4 ports that are numbered.  Connect port 1 to your MCE PC.  Connect Port 2 to the ethernet jack in your home's wiring.  If the jack in the wall is connected to the switch, a light should come on at both the 2Wire router and the Trendnet switch.

Connect the Xbox 360 to the port in the wall.  You should see a light turn on at the back of the Xbox 360 to show connectivity to the Trendnet switch as well.  If you view the Trendnet switch there should be 2 ports showing connections (assuming there are no other active computers connected in the house).

The only thing that I am confused about is what type of cable is feeding the 2Wire router.  There must be some form of input.  Is it a coax input?

    Hope that helps!
