I've got a windows home server that has media sharing turned on.  I can use media connect in WMP to see that library, but it doesn't work in VMC.  I already have it pointing to the shared folder, but that's not the point.  I have to basically maintain separate libraries for each computer in my house that uses VMC.  Why can't I just have one library on the WHS and use that shared library.  Please don't tell me it's a DRM issue since it works with WMP...

i actually was wondering this too, i dont have a home server, but was thinkin of gettin the hp media smart home server, and just putting all my stuff there, music, pictures, dvd library and then having each computer read the shared folder...is that not possible or sumthin??

Have you guys tried the PVConnect addin that comes with PP1 for WHS?

I'm not sure that does what I'm after.  The only way I see to set up a media library in VMC is point it to the shared folder and let it build it's own library.  I want to set up the library on WHS point VMC to that library and use it.

They probably have more answers than this forum. I do have to say that WHS supports native uPNP media sharing for the Music, Videos and Photos folders and there is an add-in that has been created to allow you to uPNP share any folder that you want on your server, called Media Connect Controller.

I have all my music and dvds etc on my whs and i dont have any issues with them appearing in VMC

One thing i did do is create an accouint on for my htpc in WHS.

So when i go to music and WHS is on all my music is there and the same for my dvds, pics etc

I have not used any plugins
