I just got a new HP Tablet with Vista.  I'm trying to figure out this whole media center thing so that I can stream my music through my xbox.  I've selected which folders it should watch to add files to the library but when I check the library, only a little over half of my songs were added.  All the songs are in mp3 format and all in the same folder (...Music/iTunes/iTunes Music).  Is there any way to drag and drop files as is possible with WMP?  Or any other suggestions to get all my music into media center?  Thanks.

Curious if you ever found a fix for this... I've noticed approx 300+ songs that are available in WMP & VMC are not available to my Xbox360 extender. The songs are all in mp3 format.

Are these songs all in the same directories?  Double-check the permissions on them and make sure mcx1 has read access.

I have the same problem - even though my music drive (a seperate HDD for music only) is organised by Artist, them album - have tried several different ways to force an update including the removal of all album art.

Very frustrating and rendering WMC totally useless to me.

I'm also having this problem. Only about half of my music shows up in Vista's MCE. I'm currently looking into read/write permisions for the folders and files my songs are kept in, as suggested above.

I added a top level directory in Media Player/Music/Folders.  It contains177 artist folders, some with many albums each.  Media Player now gives me an icon for the folder.  It says there are only 44 albums, and only 500 songs instead of 5000.  I can't figure out why it found some but not others.

Got it!  I deleted the local WMP database and let it re-index.
