    Brämpa:

Hello anyone...? HIP works great, but... QWERTY part of MCE keyboard stops working when installing the MCE replacement driver ("eHome"). What to do, go back to original eHome driver and give up on HIP, or anything to do to fix this?

I third this problem. I can't use HIP because of this :(

Re: Making MCE IR blaster universal

Mine works fine with HIP, so it must be possible, but I've not done anything specific to change the driver's behaviour, or anything.

Did you get the latest driver from the HIP downloads page?

Re: Making MCE IR blaster universal

BUMP: I see this question asked over and over but I never see any responses; but with 407 different posts in this one thread who knows?

'I would like to know if it's possible to use mceir in Vista.'

I can say I have not been able to get it to work so far.

VISTA has been out for quite a while now, Has anyone gotten this to work? Is there another thread, faq, help file, or wiki with this info? Everything I've found so far only refers to WinXP.

Thanks a lot in advance for any replies!

    - Andy

I think that over at the Media Portal forum they have had some success with Vista.

Re: Making MCE IR blaster universal

I found a excellent program that allows use of the MCE blaster universally in Vista.

    LM Remote Keymap. http://www.lmgestion.net/

The program can learn any remote code and blast it with the MCE receiver / blaster without changing drivers. It is a simple program that has some very useful features; including the ability to use scripts to blast muliple commands as well as being able to control the blaster from other pc's.

In combination with another program, Event Ghost, I was able to create a sleep timer that will power down my amp with my MCE blaster and then put the pc into standby.

I still can't get standby working, I've already tried adding the registry key, making changes in the bios and energy settings in the device manager, has anybody standby working using a Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3 board (AMD 770 Chipset)?

When I try to enter standby Windows displays that it's entering standby but it never does, it just hangs. At least there is no hard disc activity so I can savely switch the power off.

I've used so many USB devices without any problems so I can surely tell the driver don't work properly.

Both of those links are the same. Did you do that on purpose?

Re: Making MCE IR blaster universal

Hi,  I'm a little bit confused, now.

I've just gone from MCE to VMC, and I'm here to check that HIP works with VMC - the thread gave me some doubt so I tried it and I found the same as everyone else - it doesn't.

I read the mediaportal thread that refers to the replacement IR driver being obsolete, and to just change some registry entries, so my confusion is - do I need the linked to replacement driver or do I just need to do the registry edit and use the standard MCEIR driver?

Re: Making MCE IR blaster universal

Since standby don't work I wanted to deinstall the driver, that does not work either, it just freezes. Can somebody tell me how to get the original driver back?

If you've not figured it yet - go to device manager, uninstall the eHome receiver, then reboot.

Re: Making MCE IR blaster universal

Thanks, I managed to to reinstall the original driver, since standby don't work on my system I'm forced to use the original driver. That's not bad because I've found out MediaPortal has full support for the original driver. DVBViewer has a input plugin for the original driver but it has some issues, I want to write a input plugin fixing this issue. MPC does not support the messages sent by the original driver, I want to send a patch to the MPC project. The good thing is I could finally dump EventGhost, it takes way to much resources for a application running constantly in the background.

Hey pals... I bought my MCE Remote + Receiver used and didn't get any blasters with it. Can I build one myself? I have understood that it consists of IR transmitter LED and 3.5mm mono jack?

Re: Making MCE IR blaster universal

Could do, I dunno if it would work, but you could try a "normal" IR transmitter bug from an IR Repeater kit.

OR, I saw the MCE Remote bundle for £12 on Amazon the other day...

Where in the world are you?
