Re: RE: Making MCE IR blaster universal

Yes, then it makes sense. However I dont' have a spare receiver...

Anyways, I am thinking of learning IR commands from the MCE Keyboard and program it directly to a universal remote control instead of using HIP as a third party - has anyone done this before? Another approach is to modify the registry of eHome so some of the keys can be altered. Any thought on this? anyone? Thanks

I notice that the driver supports RC5X IR commands. Can anyone tell me if it supports plain old RC5? Alternatively, has anyone tried an RC5 remote (e.g. Hauppauge 45 button remote) with the MCE IR receiver and used HIP to map the codes to commands? Thanks.

Re: Making MCE IR blaster universal

I went and got an MCE Remote and MCE IR receiver. I did this because I thought I could just use the IR receiver like a UIRT but cheaper.. I've come to find out that I'm not sure it's possible.

Is it possible to use ANY remote control with the MCE IR Receiver. I have an All in One URC8910.

I've searched and found a couple related threads but they were hundreds of posts.. I just want to know if it's possible before I pursue it.

    Thanks!

Please excuse my ignorance, but I can not get this plugin workin with Girder 4.  Has anyone had success?  If so would you be willing to share your .gml file?

    Thanks.

Re: Making MCE IR blaster universal

    Hi

Have downloaded and am using the HIP ir program, and mostly it is working well.

    I have 2 small issues:

    1.  I cannot get the 'live tv' button on the romote to take me straight to live tv.  It seems to be doling the same as the record button.  I cannot find anywhere a command code for MCE 'live tv' button.

    2.  I use remote desktop to do admin. on the htpc, and also to schedule recordings remotely.  This worked fine until I installed HIP, as I could still use the remote to log back in locally when I had finished.  Unfortunately now I cannot do this.  I am guessing that HIP does not recognise the login screen as an application and is not passing any commands to it.

If anyone has had similar problems, or can offer some suggestions as how to proceed,it would be much appreciated

    Alex

Re: Making MCE IR blaster universal

I am trying it in Vista as we speak. I have installed the replacement driver and the driver install goes smoothly, however I can not get mceirrec to see anything. I get "record error" every time...

Anyone have a solution for this?

Re: Making MCE IR blaster universal

    Hello,

I have read the FAQ  MCE Remote replacement Driver from HIP and tried to rec and play commands from dos prompt with your program. For example i am trying to record and play a Channel up from my settop box remote. It gets recorded but when i try to play it with mceirplay.exe the Ir blaster it does not flash?

I even tried with Hip and still does not flash. any suggestions ?

I am using the Hauppauge Pvr-150 MCE kit (model 232).

    thanks for any help

Re: Making MCE IR blaster universal

ok i have made some progress, it seems that MCEIRPLAY needed to have the cable in port 2 for it to work. So i am able to change channels up & down with MCEIRPLAY and with HIP in the Add/Edit IR commands with Test IR.

Now how do i tell HIP to use the code found from my Starchoice set top box remote with the MCE remote?

Girder MCE Remote Plugin with default MCE driver

Has anybody got the girder MCE Remote Plugin to work with the default MCE driver? I can get girder to send signals but it always sends the code twice. It seems to double the ir code sent to the blaster. Meaning its impossible to turn off the power to my tv because it immediately turns back on. I know using the MceIRApi.sys driver will probably fix the issue, but I dont want to use it  because I would have reprogram all my other girder messages for the new driver when they work fine with the HID input plugin. Also i've noticed using the MceIRApi driver with girder is a bit sluggish on my computer and I end up pressing the buttons too many times in a row.

Re: Girder MCE Remote Plugin with default MCE driver

I have a question that I was trying to solve for days without any success.

Is there any way to make the MS Transiver wake up on IR code other than the one that is on the MS Remote (the PC button).

Basically I'd like to use a Remote other than MCE remote but with the MS Trasiver.

Can anyone please help me solve this issue.
