Hi all this is driving me insane so im really hoping for some help here. thus far these are the steps that I have taking so far. This is a copy of an email that I sent to the creator but im also coming here praying that someone here can help me.

Hello I really love this idea I'm just hoping that you can help me with my problem.
First I tried to find the log data that you asked to have sent but I couldn't find it anywhere so im sorry about that however Ill tell you step by step of what I have done thus far..

    1. Im using Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit and a Xbox 360
    2. The Xbox and the computer are set up to use Windows Media Center (I'm able to stream my vid files as well as my music from my computer to my Xbox)
    3. I have the 64 bit version of your software installed.
    4. I am able to play movies @ netflix.com as well as through the windows media center on my PC
    5. I am hardwired to my 360
    6. When I start up the VMCnetflix on the 360 I see all of the movies and tv programs and I can click on them to start the show.
    7. I am getting the message that it could not play that video file. then it would ask if I wanted to restart the movie when I said yes the windows circle (loading) would just spin and do nothing.
    8. I have tried everything I could possibly and Im coming to you as a list resort I really hope that you can help me with this. Thanks in advance.
By the way I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times as well as reconnecting my Media center pc with my 360. I really am at a loss for words so any guidance would be more then appreciated.

I had this exact same issue with this program. What i did to resolve it was add the program to my antivirus EXCLUSION list and told it not to monitor network activity. Hopes this helps you. Cheers to eLuttman!

Ill give that a go any idea how to add a program to the Exclusion list from Mcafee?

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.1 w/ Vista Extender Support (7/16/2008)

With version 1.0.28R1 it took me nearly 3 minutes to load movie detail pages. That was fixed in 1.1.1. However now it takes nearly 2 minutes for the program to actually start. It sits there at the background image with the spinning circle until the main menu finally comes up and everything works fine after that.

I'm still trying to get it working smoothly on the PC before I bother troubleshooting the extender.

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.1 w/ Vista Extender Support (7/16/2008)

Loading all the thumbnails and info for the movies does take some time... Other than this, and the fact that the red selection bar is totally out of line with the color scheme, this is a great plug-in!

I have been messing around with this for days now. I can not seem to get this to work. I have reinstalled and readded my extender no telling how many times. It works great on my PC just not on my xbox. When I try to play a download or a stream I get this error, "the file type is not recognized and cannot be played. Either the correct codec..." I did get it give me the licences error onece about it not being able to find the licences for it. I am using Vista Ultimate x64. Any help will be great.

    Thanks

I am getting the codec error as well.  I am running Vista Ultimate x64 and can actually play the movies in Media Center on the PC, just not through the XBOX....everything works great until you actually try to stream, then I get the "Cannot Play This Video - Codec" error message.

I'm not talking about loading the thumbnails. I'm talking about even getting to the point where the thumbnails are at, when the program is still opening. It's not even at the main menu yet. The thumbnails still have to load after it finally gets there, and the loading speed is just fine for them. It's basically the same problem I'd had (and a few others had) with movie details on the previous version. Just instead of details, it's the main menu.

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.1 w/ Vista Extender Support (7/16/2008)

More signs pointing to a Vista Ultimate 64 bug...all the complaints on the last few pages of this thread have come from people running Vista Ultimate 64, and I think all of their issues are still unresolved (including mine).

Can any of the devs confirm this as a bug?

Has anyone been successful with Vista Ultimate 64??

Yes, I am getting the "Cannot Play This Video..." possible codec error. I am running Vista 64. everything runs great on the PC Windows Media and on IE through Netflix. Extender is set up properly for the XBOX, get error on streaming and license error on playing download. I have uninstalled several times and reinstalled in order several times - read several threads here - no success.

Please help - I am very excited about this plug in. I purchase a Netflix account just for this. Thank you.

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.1 w/ Vista Extender Support (7/16/2008)

I am seeing the same behavior.  Invoking VMCNetlifx takes between two and three minutes during which time the Vista circle just spins.  After that everything else works well.

    Any thoughts?

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.1 w/ Vista Extender Support (7/16/2008)

I too am having problems with the latest version.

It seems to install fine, but when starting it from the local PC, it takes a very long time to load (stuck looking at the Netflix mailing envelope while the circle spins and spins).  Once it loads, when I try to start a movie, it immediately gives me the Finished screen and says that vmcNetflix must quit.

Since it doesn't work "locally", I haven't even bothered to test an extender.

Movies play in IE7 (default browser) with no problem.

Tried the uninstall/reinstall procedure on the main website, same result.

This used to work for me flawlessly.  The only change I can think of that I've done to this computer is installing Vista Caller-ID (http://www.vistacallerid.com/) with its Media Center extender plugin.  Unless there's an incompatibility there, I'm lost as to what to try next.

    Any thoughts?

Whats your default browser set to?  On x64 system, it needs to be set to the x32 IE7 browser.

It is set to IE7 32-bit as the default. I am able to play movies from Netflix in IE and VMC on the PC. I think if it was set to IE7 x64 as the default I wouldn't be able to do that, since the x64 version has issues with javascript and Flash.

    Hi,

I cannot speak to Ultimate, but I am running vmcNetflis fine from Vista 64 Premium.  As far as I am aware, Premium is exactly the same build as ulitmate except that Ultimate has additional features installed.  I doubt that this is a Vista Ultimate Issue.  I have run into issues in the past with the program and have had to completely uninstall (including the regedit) a couple times, but all in all it has been great for me.

Cant say. I don't use McAfee. Try calling them up.

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.1 w/ Vista Extender Support (7/16/2008)

1.1.1 kept crashing when the movie player re-initialized on the extender.  Everything played fine on the PC, but then it doesn't need to be "restarted" or at least I havn't run accross it.  If I went into settings on the pc and initialized the player it crashed though.  In the end I rolled back to 1.028 as every uninstall, reinstall was asking me to get a new lic from netflix and I was worried I'd hit their limit of 4 in one week.  After rolling back everything worked as before.  I'm sure something went wrong on the install etc since no-one else has a simular problem.

    The point is:

Eric, should it have asked to download a new lic evertime I uninstalled, reinstalled?  Do you still need to uninstall first?  If both answers are yes, can it be changed to leave the license key on uninstall etc?

If not no worries.  Thanks for a great product.

    -Robert
