For those wishing to try the latest beta, you can find it here:

    http://code.google.com/p/vmcnetflix/downloads/list

It contains several changes to address performance and cache problems, adds "Watch New" and "Browse New" menu items, and the existing "Browse Now" menu item now lists all the movies, not just the Top 25.

This version gave me the 24 titles listed bug, while the current RC does not fyi

yeah 24 titles bug for me too.  also.. not accepting netflix login name correctly the first 4 times I tried.   username@yahoo.com was logging in as username@yahoo.co

so I tried yahoo.comm  it still said .co

so I tried yahoo.commm  then it said .commm

so I tried yahoo.com and this time is said .com and logged me in.

    weird stuff.

I'll look into the issue ... you are not the only one to report this, I think it might be a bug happens if you type in the field instead of using the onscreen keyboard.

Can't reply with Quote with the link listed..otherwise my post gets moderated.  Anyway.   This fixed the 24 thing for me.

How many movies is the Watch New supposed to show?  Up to some date or something?   It seems like the movies in categories is varying between like 17-40.

I'm pretty sure they were referring to the amount of movies in their dvd library vs watch now. It wouldn't make any sense to artificially limit the database so perhaps you read wrong or the article was incorrect.

side: Yah I'll probably get a hdhomerun, but I'm dragging my feet. As soon as I buy one I know hauppage or microsoft will get my hvr1600 working :)

heres what i read...."What's more, you won’t get a crack at every piece of entertainment in Netflix’s 100,000-piece library. Subscribers to this streaming/Xbox Live service may only choose from a smaller subset of 10,000 movies and TV shows. "

    From here...http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25680004/

Reading it again, it does seem more ambiguous about not limiting the actual watch now titles. Although i still think it makes sense to MS when thier rental library could compete with netflix. MS could potentially lose money by people opting for 8.99 netflix unlimited streaming plan rather than renting from xbox live for watever the cost per title. That could also be why they chose to force the gold subscription so they could try and make up some of the losses on thier own subscription fees.

Thats all speculation though on my part, however theres one thing i'll garuntee. None of this will be done by either unless it means some sort of financial profit. After all, if either company was truly interested in pleasing thier customers they would have just sanctioned vmcnetflix.

Should be the same number of titles listed on the NetFlix website under Watch Instantly->New Arrivals.

After the latest update I have more than 24 titles but much less than I used to have. For instance in Television there was well over 300 now there are less than 50 and they aren't anything I would care to watch. I wonder is this going to be an ongoing chase to keep up with Netflix/Microsoft software changes? Won't Microsoft eventually attempt to block your software since they are going to offer there own Netflix streaming?

I don't see why they'd do that. Their streaming feature is for the xbox dashboard, not media center or extenders. They allowed MyNetflix to live on as a hobby project after they hired Anthony Park. And now that there's a variety of v2 extenders available, vmcNetflix is helping to make extenders more useful/popular. It'd be silly of them to block it until they have a replacement for it themselves. And that doesn't appear to be anytime soon.

Not sure if its just me but startup seems to take ~5 mins but once running its snappy.  It seems to peg at ~1mbps bandwidth when launching as well.  Is this normal? anything else i should look at? previously it was slow when viewing descriptions but now its just during launch

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.1 w/ Vista Extender Support (7/16/2008)

Sweet update.  Fixed all my issues with being slow and unresponsive.  One feature request.  Is there a way to turn off extender support for those of us who don't use one.  I think that is what is taking up all the time when launching right?

Are you looking under the Watch New or Watch Now category?  Under Watch New->Television I see 30+ and under Watch Now->Television I see closer to 300.

The extender setup only happens the first time you run the plugin ... In order to better the performance I now pre-load some lists - this is what's increasing the startup time.  I might look at delaying the load of some of those lists until they are first used.

Yes, it's possible I was looking under Watch New. I may have not been patient enough also,  it stopped loading before 50 titles then resumed about 15 seconds later.

    Re: Program is still gone!

Well, that's bizarre.  I installed the menu mender program, and its pretty cool.  The weird thing is that it shows vmcNetflix on the internet program menu, but VMC does not.  I tried moving it around and, while it moved according to mender, VMC didn't show it.  I also did the restore and the same results.  It just won't recognize it anymore.  So frustrating.

Anyone have ideas on this?  At this point the only option seems like it may be to reinstall Vista.  What a piece o' junk.

Yeah.. I was using a USB Wireless Keyboard.

Looks like the issue is related to having the triple-tap support is enabled.  I'm going to disable it in the next build since there is already an online keyboard support.
